American serama thread!

Thank you both.  I lost 1 additional one, but the remaining 6 seem to be doing well There are 2 yellows with chipmunk stripes, 2 varying shade of black and 2 reddish brown with slightly lighter wings.  Hopefully they will continue to do well.

I too am very sorry for your losses. I realize it happens with chickens, but still very sad. What is "pasty butt" exactly? What signs do you look for and how do you treat it? I have 15 (standard breeds) chicks coming and I want to make sure I watch out for it.

Also, what can one expect to pay for Serama hatching eggs or chicks?

Pasty butt is where poo sticks to their vent, dries and plugs them up from pooping any more... just soak their bums in nice warm water and wash off gently... if it happens, just keep your eye out for it happening again... mostly happens with newly hatched/day old chicks...
And I dunno on the price of Serama eggs, sorry...

I have a couple of frizzle Seramas that I would like to sell. Is that ok to post them here?

ohh good grief- how do you treat dry pox in a serama flock? same way as other chickens??? been so careful to keep the one roo away from the rest of my birds, and now a little serama roo has it.......he has 2 hens with him, so will isolating even matter?

Hi artsy, treat the same as regular chickens.. sigh..its a bad year for pox, tons of it here in California....
If it is stressful for mr. roo to be separated from his girls, just leave them be :love
