American serama thread!

This is the little guy from my white silkied serama and my white smooth rooster. Another egg from them pipped. And then died. I opened it and nothing seemed to be wrong must have been a fluke. The other egg looked like bacteria got in it and died before it pipped.

Cute. It looks like a little penguin.

Ok guys, I am super happy, so I am positing here, and on my thread, in serama tt shows there are different tiers and everyone shows in the first one, than you can get called back, the only one of mine to get called back was my silkied, pebbles. It was me and one other silkied female, mine got champion, so I got called back for their 3, which is when all of the females go together and compete for champion and reserve champion, Pebbles got reserve champion in this tier, so she did not get to compete for grand champion of show, but I am very proud and at the next show she has a chance!

Yeah Pebbles!

We had 42 degrees below zero F last night. My heated coop is just above freezing; the serama seem fine-no sign of distress at all. Apparently they are more hardy than they are given credit for.

Oddly, a silkie broody has abandoned her dummy eggs she was brooding to care for all the young serama who were cold. They were weaned weeks ago-strange-but a relief not to have to bring them in to keep them warm.
