American serama thread!

On an unrelated note TJChickens, can I just come live in a barn in your property? Lol! It sounds like heaven, horses, dogs, cats, chickens, cows, Seramas, assorted other poultry and birds! I wish I could have such an amazing assortment of animals someday!

You can live in my barn if you help guard the animals.

I've been having mountain lion trouble......

In their pen, they strut around with great posture.

I was carrying Worf around with me a little bit today and he was perched on the arm of this chair when I played the video with him on it.
He got excited when he heard the chicks chirping but when he then heard his own voice, he shot up into a very erect pose.
Might be a technique others can use to entice their birds to pose? They might not react like Worf, he's a bit of a kook.

Last night I left my door open for about 2 minutes while I went to get water and my cats killed one of my serama chicks. I have the one little guy left. He loves attention and I am getting him a Cochin friend from the feed store tomorrow. It is unfortunate what happened, but I am glad that one survived.

Oh no, I'm sorry :( At least one survived, like you said. Poor baby must be traumatized

Sorry to read this. Always something it seems. Cats. I'm not a fan of cats. Just as well; the wife is allergic.

I think one of my serama hens is being over mated or attempted over mated so I had to move one of my boys to a different cage gave him a black tail buff jap hen. I don't think he knows what to do he keeps pecking her comb.

On that note, I was actually wondering what ratio of females to male is good for Seramas! I see a lot of people keep them in breeding trios, but I wonder if those 2 poor girls might get a little over mated sometimes. For future reference, if I'm keeping mine just as pets and don't plan to hatch eggs, how many hens are a good amount for one roo? (To keep everyone happy!)
