American serama thread!

Nikki,

Laura Castle of Castle Delight Seramas in Oregon sells eggs (I'm incubating a batch currently). If you check the following link and scroll down, there are a couple auctions currently going:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/OPSincFundraisingAuctions/
I have been Wondering if they where still around! Thanks for the Link... Their Facebook wasnt on last time I looked for it... So was their website

Thank you on the age guess. That does look closer to being correct after looking at other photos. And I'll keep watching my little hen for bigger eggs. I would just love to hatch some of her eggs because she is my only frizzle in with my smooth rooster!
Good Luck!

I went to go look at ta little rooster today and came across this little hen. She was in a small over crowed pen and the lady said she was be peacked by the others. Anyway I talked her in to letting me have her. And I made her a little sweater out of an old sock. But I am just wo,seeing if this isn't the product of a double frizzle breeding...??? But then again her feater shafts are strong and straight so could it be a bad case of billing?
What does a double frizzle look like?
Poor Girl! She doesn't Appear to be frizzled at all... So I don't think thats it... I think she was just being picked on... What breed is this one?

said to be serama. And she did stand up in a typical serama stand earlier for me. She is super tiny.

Yeah she runs the poultry swaps here in Oregon and that's become a full time job so I think she stepped back a bit from the seramas. But the Facebook page is back and she's mostly selling her eggs on the auction page to support the swaps.

so ive been away for a while and ive found something out. the seramas i have CANNOT breed and have living offspring so im looking for anyone that has fertile eggs or that will have them
There are some groups on Facebook for people looking to buy/sell Serama (adults and/or hatching eggs) -

Pet Serama Marketplace - On this page they are not show quality, just pet quality, but still some beautiful birds!
Serama Marketplace - On this page they should be better "quality"

And then there is a rare breeds page that sometimes people are selling Serama eggs -

Rare Chicken Breeds Sell/Swap (I keep asking this group to join, but so far I haven't been accepted, maybe you will have better luck!)

EDIT: I would just suggest, if you're looking for a high quality bird or eggs - if you see something you like, I would post it here and see what the other more experienced Serama owners/breeders here think! For instance, I'm pretty sure I can tell if a Serama is nice form/quality, but I would still double-check with people in this thread before I would shell out a nice chunk of change for a high quality bird or eggs from a breeder.

The earlier pictue I posted of my little beat up naked serama girl has earned a new name.... Porky pine!!!!
Anyway I trimmed up some of here wing feather or wing feather shafts to help balance her. But my question now is. How far back can I trim them? Will this feather shaft grow a new feather or will it grow a while new shaft and feather? Same question with her tail?
Thanks everyone

I wouldn't do any more trimming. There can be blood in the base of the feathers.
They will eventually fall out and new feathers will grow.
