American serama thread!

I took the advice here and 2 days ago I put 4 golf balls in the nesting box of a trio.
Today Gyda started trying to hatch them.
Tonight looks like the last cold night of the year.
I cleaned the box & real eggs will be waiting for her when she goes back into her day enclosure.

It's a big heavy structure.
Today I started building a lightweight A frame coop.
Birds don't need the elbow room of a square structure when they sleep.
Each side is 3 foot wide 1/2 inch mesh.
I'm making it 5 feet long.
It's gonna have an open bottom for daytime digging & a "safe room" for nighttime security.

Daphne is finally getting her confidence on the table.

And there is 6 chicks under the broody and one zipping. Wish I could sell some birds/chicks/eggs but the npip certification is taking longer than I thought! Do you have to npip certified to ship eggs?

Sure hope not. Still waiting and hoping.

Check with state or county Ag. Dept.

This information can be found online for your state. In a search box type, "Does a person need to be npip certified to ship eggs?" Each state is different.

I have checked. You do have to in California and many other states. I have been in touch with the state ag. Director. She kept in good contact for the first week, but now I haven't heard from her for awhile and I want to finish the process. Kind of bothers me that they require this, but don't seem very ready to help you become certified.

Wow. Someone just hatched 7 out of 8 Tribble eggs.
How'd that happen?

Oh my goodness, these babies are so sweet and tiny,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:) One more hatching today, all six hatched yesterday. Then all seven will be here. Thank you so much for your beautiful chicks. My new favorite serama chicken. Makes me want to get some more eggs, but will wait a bit. Do you sell all the time??? So pleased, words cannot say enough. Can you tell me more about the breed??? Thank you, thank you, thank you again.
