Anybody have an idea about what is going on with this 3 week old Serama chick's feathers? The other 2 chicks are fairly smooth, no bristles anyway. Also, 2 chicks have little combs popping up. Makes or do all Serams have combs? Thanks.

Anybody have an idea about what is going on with this 3 week old Serama chick's feathers? A frizzle serama rooster. The other 2 chicks are fairly smooth, no bristles anyway. Also, 2 chicks have little combs popping up. Makes or do all Serams have combs? Yes, they are male/roosters. Thanks. The picture below is my frizzle hen. Frizzle is a type of feathering where the feathers curl outward instead of inward.

You got yerself a little frizzle boy! :love :woot Somewhere along the line, there is a frizzle gene in MAMA& PAPAs genes and....surprize!
Generally speaking on seramas, by 4 weeks you can tell boyz from girls by the combs getting reddish :cd

I had a feeling! Lol! Now hoping neither of the other 2 are boys. I can do one sort of quiet Serama roo, but 3, I don't know. The grandkids named and claimed them, so fingers crossed for hen's. Thank you!

Can someone grade my birds? What are the colors?

I'm unsure as to what you mean by grade. Say how good they are? To do that from a picture would not be a fair assessment. Pictures can be very deceptive. My suggestion is to look at pictures and the desired characteristics of serama online.

It rather depends on what you're going for. There's show quality and pet quality. There's American serama and traditional serama. There's probably more...
I'm interested in pet quality. Personality is a trait that is a must. I'm not interested in an aggressive or wild bird regardless of how it looks. The hen in my avatar is an example of what I want, but smaller. Looks ARE important to me. I strive to get them to look as good as possible, but...

I'm not good at color names. Your birds look bright and healthy. Beautiful birds.

Serama that are pets.
