I peeked under Gracie this morning & I'm happy & grateful to report that I found two Powder babies & two babies from Worf!

The chick is improving. It's sitting up and it's navel has stopped bleeding. Any name suggestions?

1 more Poka chick hatched. Farah keeps moving nests so the last 3 eggs were pretty cold when I found them. The 2 with pips were still alive but the daphne egg was smashed. Farah wouldn't sit on the 2 pipped ones (she is a paranoid mom) so I put them in the incubator. I helped one hatch that had all its veins absorbed and was shrink wrapped. Well it has a open navel. So I had to put pressure on it until it stopped bleeding and now it's in the bator. I had to do the same thing with peanut the chick so hopefully it pulls through. The other one should hatch soon. Bad luck

Awww, that so sad.
I hope the survivors do ok.
My eggs that went cold for 4 hours hatched but I don't know how they did it.
They were laying flat out on the ground like they were totally exhausted.
1 died right away. Another died a day later. The last one looked fine but it didn't zip around like normal chicks & died a few days later.

I hope the survivors do ok.
My eggs that went cold for 4 hours hatched but I don't know how they did it.
They were laying flat out on the ground like they were totally exhausted.
1 died right away. Another died a day later. The last one looked fine but it didn't zip around like normal chicks & died a few days later.

I had to help them both out. They had bloody navels and pooped multiple times in the shell. I think it was a fluke as all the other chicks are fine. I just helped the other one out and it has a bloody navel but it is not as bad as the other. They are in my incubator fluffing up and seem to be pulling through. Unfortunately the hen crushed one egg in a mad dash to leave her old nest. But my silkied pair had a 100% hatch! Even though 2 had a "traumatic" hatch I think it might be because of what happened.

Bad luck indeed. I hope it becomes good luck for you soon.

I had that happen once.
The chick turned out fine.

I have had it happen too. This one isn't as bad as before. The first chick had to me assisted for 5 days and hatched 7 days late. It survived and was a healthy bird but got killed by my cat. These chicks seem to be doing better.
