Do they eat a lot?

YES!

They love to eat & poop. Not very active & very docile / cuddly. They're not eating machines like turkeys & meatbirds. They can forage some and are very hardy. It takes them a long time to get full-sized. (avg about 18 months) A hen's 1st egg can come anytime from 5.5mo until 9 months! They're certainly not "efficient" like Leghorns when it comes to the feed/egg ratio. However, their eggs are very large and they can be good layers. They're more like dogs with their personalities. So friendly & loving. Quiet - but some "honk" at me to get my attention if they feel I have treats & am holding out. Not the smartest breed, but that makes them lovable too.

The feisty-ness of the bantams is new to me. The little seramas are so vocal, but thankfully mine don't have much volume.

Double Laced! I want her ! I'm weak for double laced Birds. Have you hatched any like her ?
Acorn has some.. But sadly incomplete lacing is what I was told.

My dear serama loving friends. I told my DH I'd sell some of these chicks since I have so many hatching now but I CAN'T bring myself to do it. I want to see them feathered out so I am standing firm. I don't think he has seen the extra incubators yet. I admit I have become no I am a hatchoholic.

My Serama boys can shatter eardrums. Especially Smudge. He's sweet but he does not like being handled. Those times he screams like a girl. Lol

Possible that you’ll get one similar to her! I’m not positive who Noodles mother is. One candidate is not laying but the other is.

I don’t bother trying to sell them as chicks anymore, unless I sell them as day-olds, right out of the incubator. I love watching them develop over the first few months.

I had 2 little roosters that screamed bloody murder when you grab them. I gave them away last night.
But in general, my serama boys are kinda shrill and low volume too. Nothing compared to the lav orps I had and the marans i have. Even my bantam cochins are much louder than the seramas.
And I have a new serama crowing that actually gets out all 5 cock-a-doo-dle-doo syllables.

I have no idea what to call her color/feather pattern. She's got a salmon-like breast like a welsummer, a golden head like a buff orp, and yes some lacing like a penciled or partridge brahma.... and of course the little size and the big attitude of a serama.

New feathers look like paint brushes. . If so that means Smidge and Smudge carry silkie gene right... Is it like frizzle if so.
