Oh no. I hope he heals up OK.

Oh he’s fine! So fine, he was even chasing my 12-year old pomapoo and climbed on my leg to beg food from my dinner plate. He liked the steak and the macaroni and cheese. (learning from the dogs)

Does anyone else have house chickens that beg for table scraps? The other night, i offered him a small piece of meat from a hamburger and he didn’t eat it, but he did like the French fries.

Update-My henni rooster hasn't grown any roo feathers. His crow is much less than the normal speaking voice, but that makes him ideal as an indoor bird. Below is a picture showing LitteGuy and Henny. Henny laid eight eggs and went broody. Since LittleGuy is far from being a normal rooster I didn't expect anything to come of the mating. On the third day of incubation curiosity got the best of me, even though I know eggs can't be reliably candled until the 5th-6th day; but the eggs are so small. To my surprise six eggs had developing chicks. It was a nice surprise. I've been trying for several years to get a fertile breeding pair under 10 each ounces . YEAH!

I understand, it was hard for me to see too. I don’t know what his environment was like in his previous home. I do my best to prevent frostbite with a clean, dry environment. I have a lot of ventilation but sometimes ambient humidity is extremely high when we warm up after snow storms and everything is damp. I did buy a cozy coop heat panel for the Seramas but they don’t use it, they would rather snuggle in with the Silkies.
I think this guy has something more going on than just frostbite as he just started making a sneeze/ cough like sound sometimes and I’ve haven’t seen pictures of frostbite like this before, it’s like patches of black on his face and I don’t remember that black line on his beak before today. His comb looks like healing frostbite. There is no bleeding, drainage, or smell. I have him in the house and put poultry cell in his water. He is eating and drinking, normal poop. Luckily he is sweet and I’ve been able to check him over real well and he sits on my lap and enjoys to be petted. No mites, no discharge from nostrils or eyes, mouth clear, breathing normal no raspy or labored breathing.

Watch him carefully. I lost some really nice birds when we had repeated flooding last summer and the birds got chilled. Right after the flooding and being dried off they looked fine, but next day they were sneezing and...

Thank you. Now I'm wondering if they will take the twenty days to hatch. I was surprised to see how much the eggs had developed in just three days of incubation. Most of all, I will be happy if they hatch.

Thank you. I have him in the house now. I have been watching him very closely as he is been spending the evening watching TV with the family. He really is a sweet boy he likes to snuggle on my lap quite and content.

OK. Perhaps your little roo actually is more spoiled than Teddy. I thought sleeping in DD's bedroom was bad. The bantams do get some table scraps .... but usually leftover stuff from the kids' plates or veggie peels from prep. Last night I made choc covered strawberries for dessert. They got the tops.

The nest itself is a cereal bowl and a bit of straw; covered with a plastic flower pot with a hole cut in it.

We try to mix a diet that works for all the birds-quail, chickens, and midget turkeys. We've been feeding this for years and all the birds are doing well.

Ya ain’t lived till your eating dinner in front of the TV. And a hen launches a sneak attack landing right on the mashed potatoes!
If the Seramas are out while we are eating in the family room, it is challenging. Dumpling is training her chick how to try to peck between the fingers that are holding the plate while also putting up a barrier. Thankfully they leave us alone when we are at the table.
