American serama thread!

Does anyone else have house chickens that beg for table scraps? The other night, i offered him a small piece of meat from a hamburger and he didn’t eat it, but he did like the French fries.

Ya ain’t lived till your eating dinner in front of the TV. And a hen launches a sneak attack landing right on the mashed potatoes!
If the Seramas are out while we are eating in the family room, it is challenging. Dumpling is training her chick how to try to peck between the fingers that are holding the plate while also putting up a barrier. Thankfully they leave us alone when we are at the table.[/QUOTE]

Wow I think I would be in divorce court if I had chickens begging or stealing food :lau My husband even trains the dogs a young age that begging is intolerable.

The dogs know not to really beg. They just sit and watch until we get to the end. They know they get leftovers or bowl/plate-licking duties. :gig

But Spicoli is still learning. He tried to walk pretty close to my plate (on my lap, in my recliner ) But he eventually understood he had to wait. And share with the dogs.

But...there's no "begging" involved. That is implying some form of intense "asking." This is more like pillaging! My cats have learned that if they are patient I will offer some at the end, when I'm finished. Gotta work on the chooks...

X 2. Our dogs are the same. They know if they do not beg they will get something at the end of the meal; Beg, and they get nothing but a scolding.

At this time we have 8 dogs plus puppies. All indoor dogs!

Let’s all pile in momma’s chair! :gig
