Actually my hatching eggs were more than a rooster but your choice. As for the combs, all depends on your bloodlines as well. Comb size is definately a hereditary trait.

How much would the rooster be? Oc course the shipping brings the price higher, but I can dream. The bloodlines would be of Ra-not mine. But the big comb is attractive; your bird is wonderful.

I moved Spicoli's cage in front of a window. Cover at night with a blanket, since there's a dusk-to-dawn light right outside there. Its right off my dining room.

Beautiful birds and nice set-ups.

I need some advice. I fell on the steps when it was raining and now have broke and cracked ribs. Every movement is painful. With the excess rain we have been getting every coop is wet, damp, etc and needs cleaning badly. So far the birds are healthy. I'm trying to think of ways to make cleaning, feeding, watering easier. The bigger birds will be free ranged and I can scrape up droppings daily. However, serama and quail can not be free ranged. As is, I can't do the work to clean coops, bathtubs, and plastic tubs. Especially the whirlpool that's deep. My wife can't help and there's no one else. Any advice.

Wow, that sounds painful!

See the little orange thing under my waterer in that last pic? Its a wire napkin holder, from the dollar store, like you use outside for picnics so napkins don't blow away. Its been a huge help to keep the water elevated and keep the shavings out of the water and a ton less mess. Any kinds of things like that, that you can put in with them, to keep them up out of the mud, would probably help in the short-term. Pallets? Crates? Tree branches? Cinder blocks? Even plastic buckets or totes to keep them up out of the mud. Might be more of a hassle to deal with later, but might help in a pinch. They probably could go a week or more without any special cleaning at all, other than adding feed and water.

Gosh so sorry you got hurt. There isn’t a local kid you could hire to clean your coops once in a blue moon til you get better?

No local kids at all; not one we would trust. I like the napkin holder under the waterer.
I can't lift much. The coops need cleaning now. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and get the worst of it. Another layer of bedding where worst.
