American serama thread!

nurseshelly- It wasn't much bigger than the other one that I got from you, but know it is as big as the FCBMs. It is so funny. It could be a size J for all I care, I just think it is funny. and it just seemed to happen over night.

It tries to snuggle under the wings of the older seramas that are half its size and can't figure out why it wont work.

Thanks Toni- It just really sucks. I love these little guys to much. It drives me crazy when people say they cull (the kill kind) if they don't make the cut, because I am over here trying to just keep mine alive. I am up all night when they are hatching and them for about 4 days after to make sure they are OK. I am upset when other breeds die, its just so much harder with the seramas.

K got a question. got a pen with a roo and a hen looks like one on each has a very swollen eye. I mean its bad. the eyes are whitish and watering. Any idea's or med's thankyou bobby

eyes are really touchy. i wouldn't put anything in there, maybe wash out with some saline solution. Does it look like they got scratched or is it an infection.

A sinus infection can look like that too. The sinuses run under the lower eyelid, and drainage accumulates there if they can't sneeze it out. The eye drainage is usually bubbly, and they also open their mouth and shake their head to try to clear the mucus.

Oh, if you push gently on it, it will either drain out the tear duct, or the nose - in birds it's all connected.

If it's a sinus infection, baytril or tylan will take care of it.

You might have to go to the vet to determine which it is though - eye problem or sinus infection.
