Thanks!!! I'm waiting on 6 more, but they should hatch in ones or twos over the next 4 days. I don't have anywhere cool enough to store them, so I just put them in the bator when they are laid and write the lock down date on them. Then I put a group in the bator. Can't wait for cooler weather so I can let them accumulate into a group to put in at once.

I keep them in the hatcher for at least 24 hours too, sometimes 48 hours. I just change the water whenever they get anything in it, which is at least twice a day - LOL! I would love to do meal worms too, but my hubby said no way - so I'll just have to keep buying their weekly treat.

Sorry was taking some pics. i just ordered the mealworms on line. and got a plastic three drawer from wally world. filled it with oat meal. its super easy. Ive wanted to do the night crawler farm but couldnt find info on it.

The mealworm farm & 3 drawers from WallyWorld caught my attention this AM......do you give the little buggers something to eat or just the oatmeal. Does it have to be regular oatmeal?

P.S. OH MAN, just as I post this you go offline.....

For the night crawlers I just used a big plastic storage container, punched holes in the lid and put some good ole garden soil in it, added some water to make it a little more moist and sprinkled this magic worm food on the top, got the night crawlers at the gas stations bait shop. Put them in there and in about a week added an apple, every so often id put a little water in the bin and sprinkle again with the magic worm food. They do well in a cool dry place like my crawl space.

So the oatmeal is the bedding for the meal worms? No water? I'll have to do some research lol those things are spendy to get at the pet stores! Ya get a little container (which one of my birds could consume in the blink of an eye) for like $6

So many people have lost so many birdies to the heat this summer, and my heart aches for all of you.

He normally stands straight up, chest puffed out. The pics don't do his colors, or show how big his chest really is.
