Memphis, I am having some of my best hatching ever over the past few weeks. I have been setting egg from others and mine for months. Just cpuld not get it all right at the same time but things are looking up!

There were 3 eggs that had started to develop in this last hatch and they quit so I wound up with 2. I also lost some under mama hen that were well developed and it killed me to dispose of them. I guess its all part of the game. I do, however have confidence in my bator now since everything really went as it should and I was successful with the 2 babies. Better luck with the next hatch. One good thing is that the eggs are plentiful most of the time.

My U-Haul is packed Ray...... we're movin' in, make some coop space!

Its been a hot weekend here! Its been in the mid 90's. My poor layers have to sweat it out, but all the Seramas have been inside in the A/C. Tough life...yes.... doggone misters that I purchased for the coops at the beginning of summer quit. Maybe they are clogged? With what? Spiders??

At least I don't have mosquitos to worry about like ChickenAddict.

For the first time in a long time, I heard a pack of coyotes last night, right at the property line. I truly believe my coops are coyote proof, but it was still creepy and worrisome. They didn't stay too long. Our owls are doing a good job with the extra rabbits and rodents, and my hawks have plenty of squirrels to pick off, so my chickens have been pretty safe as of now.
