I say to heck with traps and shotguns. They're never where you need them and when you need them. If the varmint heads for your birds before the trap, it isn't real effective. If you're in bed sleeping while they strike, you're out of luck again.

My protection is my Texas Heeler, Sam. He's the best all around stock dog I've ever had. He routinely kills raccoons, possum, skunks, anything that might bother the chickens and he's been living with chickens, guineas and turkeys who love eating his dog food. He's even fast enough to catch and kill mice. He's getting older though, past 12 now, so we bought a heeler female and bred her to a working Australian Shepherd dog for a litter of Texas Heelers. We're keeping a couple to raise with Sam, a couple more are spoken for but she has 7 so there are more available.

BUT BUT BUT it wasn't intentional Chali..... Bill just came to pick up his babies and all these other dudes showed up and and...well things got out of control...it was all Bills idea......

Well it will get cool tonite..maybe???? ...I gave her a nice warm bath after youse guys left and a blow dry, so I guess that didn't help either.....
