American serama thread!

Bill, I did not want to make a page full post so I decided to split it in two. Here are up date pics of a couple cockerels some of you will be seeing at our show in Nov. They might not be the best but they and their dad should give the bought show birds a run for their money.

white earlobes arent a DQ in SCNA we are color blind. that said I LOVE THE HALF BROTHER JOEY.... when can i bring him home LOL.... i have a smexy mottled hen he can love long time LOL.

and joey your homegrown are the best so far hands down im really proud of the time and effort you have put in on them as your flok is amazing reguardless of what others might critique....you have already proven it at a show which im ready to rumble i love the show even if i dont win im happy to see all the pretty birds.

gabby should be ready by then even if he isnt he is still chicken embassador and love attention. chocobo im starting to be dissapointed this molt has really made his tail look like crap its sparse and well im just sad cuz he is a beautiful bird otherwise....and coco well she always looks great just wait til she gets on the table....she is a very confident hen LOL

last time I check white ear lope is DQ ???

Very Nice boys YB!

LASeramams--Last I checked, the serama standard asked for red earlobes with white being undesirable. Everyone should be in the process of breeding it out. I think now with the ABA, if the bird has ALL white earlobes, where our breed calls for red earlobes, that could be a DQ, but I think some white on the red is acceptable? Im showing this weekend and I can ask to find out for sure.

Just found this, if it helps.. From Liz....

oh and joey the only lil one that hatched this weekend is doing amazing....i put him in with the 2 that are a week old and he hangs in there as if he was born with them....i think its probably one of the healthiest babies ive hatched so far...he is lively and just active. he is chocolatly red with a stripe down his back so god only knows what he is gonna look like when its older.... but knowing the parents it should be very handsome or cute dunno what sex yet at 2 days old lol

I breed my birds with no white earlope and that is a fact cause I would never use a white earlope in my breeding period cause I will breed to the standard to my with no white lope they are cull .... dont care if it has the best type if it has white in the ear i will not breed i just cull it . I just cull one of my cocoapop pumpkin right before I left the house . He had green/yellow legs and he was gone ... I will follow the standard and not breed birds with color legs even a little dark in the legs its gone ... so breed to the standard of SCNA and I am with others that are doing the same ....

This Fall and then ONE more semester. I would have been done this semester, but ended up dropping a class that I was totally not understanding the professor in.
Retaking it next spring, then IM FINALLY DONE! Its been so time consuming! Birds were definitely on a back-burner for me this year. Patrick built a breeding pen this spring, and since he does all the hatching, we didn't get started until that was completed. We have some nice started birds, hope to get some pics soon to share. We have blue laced frizzles! I just need a day off to take pics, but not sure when that will be, lol.
Hope all is well. We are showing this weekend at the BPA and meeting a new judge. I wasn't going to show, since I was not really prepared, but Patrick was all for it, and either way its going to be fun!
