American serama thread!

Hm. This is true. "Blue prints" aka some plans on paper and go outside and at least pretend to be making it. XD I could totally see it backfiring...

Hours later

I walk inside with two boards nailed together. Husband is on x-box playing Halo with his friend cussing because he just died again. FAIL

Buy a nice size rabbit hutch to put them in.

I agree with everyone, but as a person with no building skills whatsoever---I have learned to make a lot of food (a pot of chili and some pimento cheese sandwiches would be great this time of year!), and have friends over for a building day. It works to stroke their egos, and have all the materials, drawings, and tools at hand and make a party out of it. That might motivate your hubby to pitch in!

Also, Craigslist is great. Here there are many nice hutches that are huge, and would be great for birds. If you want to save their wings, you can put smaller boards on the insides of the cages to keep shavings in, and then put linoleum on the inside to cover the wire bottoms. Just add shavings after that. Many have indoor and outdoor parts, with different sections to separate for breeding.

You can even find them free if you keep looking. I know that here we have a local Yahoo!Group called Freecycle. I'm sure there is one in your area, and you might want to check it out. http://www.freecycle.org/

to ad---Also great places to look for building materials! Also also, careful with all those frizzles together. You might end up with a curly who will have to live in that small cage indoors permanently!

Hey,

I actually own a curly, but I bought her she wasn't an offspring of these guys and she is paired with a smooth. And I got many of my smooth ones from one of the breeders you met in your state. I contacted you a few months back and you didn't have birds at the time available and I think I was wanting smooth specifically. My hubby picked up all the smooth birds in KY in July while visiting his relatives over a family reunion. SO he isn't a complete jerk or anything. Just lazy. XD I'll talk to him today. Catch him in a good mood or something. Unfortunately I lack the talent of cooking.

Can anyone show pictures of their booted seramas please. I am playing with the breed and need to know how much feathering they need on feet and or legs and is it the botton of the leg and foot only or the whole leg? Grrr-where does it start and where does it stop? Lots of feather or a little feather? Thanks all!
Anna
