Actually, looks like I may have spoke too soon... I'm talking to someone very near me (I'm in Jackson Co, Georgia) about a BEAUTIFUL 6mo cockerel... Hoping all goes well

I looked in to boxes .. I found some ..12.. Actually & they are over 100. Plus shipping, does anyone know where you can find single boxes????

Joey -
The dubbed bird, that's Beau Jangles! I raised him! Wow you dubbed him, huh? He was so incredibly sweet. I still miss that silly bird. He is the one that hooked me for life on this breed.

Why would anyone cut off a rooster's comb?!?

At the risk of sounding like a PETA freak, I have to say it sounds incredibly painful and cruel. Unless they have no feeling in their combs...?

Whitiis comb was torn off by another rooster...thats how he lost it......it was not intentional.

i breed OEGB and i dub every roo that i have at 5-6 months... or at least try to... i love doing it and i think it makes the roo look great... people don't understand that it is their standard and there is no arguing because it is NOT going to change at all... but i get this all of the time... people can say whatever they want to say about it or me... and i'm just like... meh... so please don't start a huge debate on this thread... lets keep it open and running...

so... yeah... seramas are great...

Are you a night owl too gumbii? Funny we were just talking about dubbing.
I wish it wasn't the standard for oegb, but only because I'm too weak to do it... lol
Anyway, IMO it is no different then cropping a dobermans ears and tail. Standard practice if you want to show it or even for a just a pet. I'd bet people aren't as horrified by that because it is more what they are used to seeing on a regular basis. It's vanity, just like we have someone do our piercings and tattoos, hurts a little but looks good and isn't exactly torture...hopefully lol.

I agree though, that's a bad subject and not the purpose of this thread - and if anyone comments on it being animal cruelty or something like that it could cause the thread to be closed.

So... gosh I sure love my little serama babies! I'm up late just watching them here in my living room, they are so cute!
