American serama thread!

Thanks, the photo doesn't do this pullet justice. She's petite and carries herself very nice. Her color is really good, inky black with the green sheen. One of the black pullets has black legs and the other has swarthy legs with a good deep yellow under the swarthy black. They have neat, small combs and beautiful heads on these girls.

Beautiful birds! Everyone has such nice birds! Love them frizzles though. I seem to be hooked on them! I have at least 20 and more hatch every day it seems. Darn hens are always going broody so I pop everyones eggs under them. We have been lucky with the seramas. I have eagles that eat my muscovy ducks but wont go in the 10X10 pens because they cant get out because wing spand is so big. Hawks were getting chicks last year till I covered the pens but they never mess with mt seramas. Maybe because they stay close to cover? No coon,or snakes but we had coyote issues last year and now that we are fenced, cross fenced and cooped we have not had issues. Thank God for that!

Still, be careful! Just because it hasn't happened doesn't mean it can't. This year, a bald eagle dropped into my 8' x 10' x 6' high dog kennel that I pen my ducks in and ate my Pekin (my favorite

). I've lived here with ducks for 5 years and never had a problem. I assumed the same thing--that they wouldn't get in there because of their wide wing span. Obviously, I was wrong. We covered the pen top with chicken wire and a few days later my husband caught the eagle, on the ground, shaking the door to the kennel trying to get in! He was huge and very determined to get another meal.

My big dogs seem to keep away the racoons and other small ground predators. I see racoons, foxes, coyotes, etc out on the road all the time, but have never seen them venture on my property.

Mr. Turtle is becoming mire & more pleasant. Not jumpy, isn't screaming like I'm trying to kill him & actually acts as if he expects me to hold him. I can't wait until he acts like a proper Serama and stirs his stuff! And then doesn't make me chase him!! Going to try to bathe him tomorrow - anyone have chainmail I can borrow???

i'll bring her down to the show in nov my friend and you guy's can all decide who gets her . lol . it's all good my friend !

Hello everyone! I was wondering if I could get some pointers from you guys, Next week I'm having a couple of Seramas mailed to me (I'm so excited) what should I do when they arrive as far as what type of food is best for them and any thing else you would like to tell me since I'm brand new with these cute birds! Do you feed them just like you feed the larger chickens? I'm so glad I found this thread!!! Thanks!
