Thanks for the picture Tricia, I have one like that too. It is from one of these two frizzled boys and I guess the black hen.

They also do not tolerate heat/cold as well as the other SErama due to feathers. And my belief is that they often have health problems more even than other Serama.

BY all means, give the birds as much room as you can safely. Many people don't have a lot of space and that is one reason they like Serama, they don't take up much space. Until you get more and more of them. Many people don't have barns or pastures either.

I would love huge stalls in a barn with a run but don't have it available. I would most definitely not go from large cages to little bitty cages. Maybe you can just divide each stall into more then one pen if you want to use less room.

Funny but when I moved my trio from their "cage" into their own coop and run, my fertility rate has fallen drastically. I think the hens have more room to run away from the roo and thus infertile eggs.

I know thats why its real importent to me to find her a good home i had three but coon got two of them . she just needs to be a pet

thanks yours are too.I need to take more pix of mine I have about 7-10 of them but they are little scrappers and are out in the wild chicken yard with all the chickens so they are a bit scruffy looking and they always want to hide those eggs I am always looking for the new spot they are laying

Redroosterfarm,
I have larger pens and smaller pens but they are all wire. Mine seem very comfortable in them, I hope to have some larger outside runs next year but to be honest, I would never leave mine out in an open pen with no top here. I hear sad stories every day about Serama's being killed by varmints from snakes to raccoons to hawks. I would love to think that I could free range mine but other than a couple hours in the evening when I'm home after work, that would be the only time I would even think it was safe and then they can still slip out of the yard to sleep in the bushes somewhere and they would be a handy snack for most predators. So, here at least, it's a safety issue that they live in pens and cages rather than free range or large, open top coops.

I'm really pleased with how my 2 black pullets are looking, they're very pretty girls and getting more typey every day. I put them both in with T-Roo this week. He's my chocolate carrier and right now he has Bugsy, my black hen and both of the black pullets.
