American serama thread!

The dark on the baby is black. It is funny. I go in there (the bathroom) and the baby comes running up to the edge of the Brinsea and pecks at the clear plastic. I took it out and it is making "love you momma" sounds to me. LOL...makes my heart melt. I know it will have a sibling soon...eggs are doding their thing, but I could just take the baby and keep it cuddled against me. Make it a house chicken...ya just what I need.

eta: Oh, and thank you.

I tend to forget my manners when I am so excited.

Awwww the baby is adorable!!! I think you should keep your first baby!!!! Esp since he/she loves you so much

We tried that with our first shipped Serama eggs, but ended up with a boy, so he had to go

He has a great home though, and we can visit, so it's all good (his name is Frankie as in Sinatra). The lady who took him actually has one of my Ameraucana roosters that I had bought as a guaranteed hen at 17 weeks, and then at about 23 weeks started looking roo-ish and crowing (his name is Gabby because he was always making noise about something even before the crowing).

I am so tempted, I would probably make it a house pet. I am a little crazy that way. LOL. BTW....I love the name Frankie (as in Sinatra)...I will have to remember that.

Yep i hear ya brother. I just want to help out. def love my babies. gonna help who i can and get some started. I am fixing to start up big time. been saving pennies lol def not rich

Besides i have said it before serama people are the best.

Honestly, it doesn't look mottled to me. Mottled usually has a lot more white on it. In this picture you can see 2 mottled and a whole lot of blacks. The mottled chicks are 3rd and 4th from the right.

For comparison, this is a mottled cochin chick...marked just like my mottled serama (obviously not the brown chick)

Oh my! Those chicks are so cute! I'm going to have to quit reading this thread. I'm dying just waiting to be able to pick out my seramas. I leave a week from today to go on a mini vacation to my sister's place. We are then going together to the poultry show in Sedalia, MO. From there we will go back to her house with my other sister and spend a few days making homemade jelly and have a "sister's week." On the way home from there I will stop by the home of another BYC'er and pick out my seramas.

It is gong to be so hard to choose. I won't decide for sure until I see her variety (she has a lot!) but I think I will come home with a pair of whites and she has a pretty nice BBRed that I can hopefully start my crele project with. I can't wait!

Sounds like a plan, now if only the person who owns that chick plays fair, I'm CERTAIN it is not mottled
