really depends, I've had alot better success and even a 100% with a broody one time.. not so much incubating.. They are a lil harder to hatch shipped but it really all depends on how their shipped and handled..

Thanks for the clarification! Thought I missed something.......LOL. It really bothers me to waste any of their eggs so I have to find an outlet but I only have 2 laying hens so far and by the time I collect enough eggs, they have to be put right into the bator. Just bought another bator so now I have 2 Brinseas that hold 12 eggs each but Ionly hatch 7 0r 8 at a time.

Know what you mean I have a 6 drawer cabinet incubator but never really have that many to use it for unless i hatch a big batch from all mine.. when i first got it (ITS OLD) i ordered some eggs and collected all my eggs for almost 2 weeks and set think i set 225 eggs (Yeah I was crazy) I thought this things old it'll never work that good.. so you can imagine my face when i opened each drawer on hatch day.. pulled them out and it was like POOOF!!! fluffy butts everywhere.. 175 hatched!!! lol heres a pic of half of them was puttin them in a shipping box, grabbin handfuls to transfer to the brooder LOL

and here was a portion of them i had to set up about 3 brooders

Not all were seramas but that would of been nice lol

One of the reasons I've got them in cages in the garage is was because of needing to separate them for breeding. I can put all the girls in the coop eventually and then bring the ones in to the roos I want to breed them to. I guess if you want to keep records, it gets complicated. I only have 2 adult hens and 1 adult roo that are all in a cage together and even then I do not always know who is the mother except for the frizzles because one of the hens are frizzled. I guess I will eventually get a system going! LOL

Which Brinsea models do you have? They are running sales right now and I was just looking at them yesterday...

I got the mini advance xl or ex..........it is very good and easy to clean. It is fully automatic except for having to stop the turning on the 18th day and putting the humidity up higher at the same time. Who has sales on them?

Just looked them up on line. sales till dec 31st.
