Ty ... When the female becomes gravid will she act sluggish & look plump? She just seems super tired... She has been restless too , laying on the back side of the water dish( not in the water) & in & out of their moist moss container .. Than over on to the heat mat.... She is just acting strange well at least to me she does.. She should be about 18-24 months old ( I got them in April & the girl said they were a little over a year old then)
Thank you for any help you may be able to provide.(I just noticed this today, she ate yesterday & acted fine)

i dunno if she has laid before but yes they get lazy. i would make sure she has enough heat though it helps with the metabolism to process the egg.
the sad part about them is they can go egg bound easily. i hope she is ok

I think I'll go with that option..

I've gotten freeze dried meal worms for them but they seriously know the difference. I have a problem with those wiggly, legged things. They have so many legs and they move. They gross me out!! YUCK!! Gives me the heeby-jeebies just thinking about them, bleh! my birds love them so I suffer in silence (with the occassional terrified squeal) because I love my birdies.

Ohhhh, I'm afraid my birdies must go without supplementary mealworms. I love all forms of bugs and creepy crawlies and couldn't bare to feed them to a chicken.

Even earwigs?? And maggots? Eek!! They creep me out. Wiggly leg bugs creep me out the most though. I wish I could find something about those critters to love. I just moved across the state to Bug Country - the crickets are so big here you could strap a saddle on 'em and ride them around. And there are these flying stinger bug things everywhere... And five inch beetles with long feeler thingies. They land on my bathroom window and look in on me. EW. Did I mention the giant green horned worm things? UGH.

There are bugs around here that I wouldn't DREAM of feeding my chickies... 'cause who knows what they are. I might have to invest in an Audoban society's bug book so I can conquer some fears here.

HEAVENS where did you move too?
