America-traditional-malaysian Doesnt really matter since we dont really have shows here in Maui.
BUT here is what makes the difference to me.
Serama 'folk' are caring, sharing and friendly (just like the serama) NOT SNOOTY, uppity or snippy.
We all in Hawaii share our birds (make exchanges with no money involved) and eggs. Most serama folk will nurse their booboo babies and not just cull them.
I think there is a huge difference when breeding for the love of the birds rather than breeding for profit - both in the birds and the fanciers.

Example last year I lost a lot of babies to fowl pox - within a week I had 3 breeders bring me new pairs and youngsters PLUS teach me to do the vaccine. And dissassmble the aqua ponics system (mosquito attracter) . In December I actually sent those pairs to Hilo Hawaii for another 2 newbie serama fancier.
Last night I had a woman call me. her sons rooster and chicks had all been shot and hens where going crazy. I told her to come over and pick out a bird, she didnt have a car so I picked her and son up let them pick new birds and then drove them home. The kid was so thankful he wants to now focus on frizzle feathered serama. Later he called and asked if he could weed eat my yard for me.

Thank you to backyardchickens for providing the forum as a means of communication to serama fanciers across the US and Canada
