American serama thread!

I did a test hatch and I have and get quite a few barreds since I have 3 very typey barred roos. One is solid black white and more malaysian in type except size but he throws very typey smaller barreds with some gold leakage like a crele wanna be and then I got this orange barred, but he isn't solid orange he has a bit of black white barring also. I think he's gonna be a bit big but I am using him for a breeder anyway because of the unique color. I think I will put him over a cocoapop pullet that has that same pumpkin color and hope for the best. The barred gene seems to be strong as the chicks I've hatched have the white spots. They are almost always roosters tho. I have one barred hen and she is poorly. No eggs from her.

I feel kinda protective over the WSF page - I just wanna be like, GET OUT you don't belong here. I want a place where I can have fun and voice my opinion without such oppressive resistance. But then again don't we all lol

I would do homework still to make sure it what you want. You do need to keep the gqf out of drafts. My incubator room door is shut all winter and it keeps temp. Its open all summer and keeps temp. Im not sure if I keep it open in winter if it would flexuate or not. I do open and shut the door often and have not noticed a change.
Yes! I totally need one that I could keep out in the trailer with the baby chickens and not have to worry about it being a consistent temperature. Couldn't keep it in the house 'cause the cats will jump on it. We're in the middle of remodeling so our doors have been taken down except for in the bathroom and Joseph's toy closet... LOL. So the cats are everywhere. I keep having to chase them out of the laundry room. I have killed hundreds of eggs off with my cheap piece of chicken droppings incubator and mom's buying me a new incubator. I just want to make sure I get THE ONE and not have problems like I did with my old incubator. It's really put a hault to my hatching except for my broodies on their nests.
I wasn't sure if you heated the room for your incubators or not, Anna. That answers my question on the GQFs.

I have my barred roo with two buff a black and barred. all have super type. But now just waiting to see. :D have alot of cocoapops now and some new wheaton hens and a mottle cocoapop. But have her in quarantine
