Seramagirl : I would like to buy one eventually for my 4-H group after we get ourselves going. The kiddos would think it was the coolest thing EVER. They're very pretty.

Someone needs to post some warm fuzzies! How are everyone's babies doing? What are we all doing to entertain them while it's too cold for them outside?

I'd post some fuzzies but I can't load any pictures onto BYC. Darnit!
My chickies are doing well. Some of my babies are getting big enough to leave the nursery - they're getting naughty.
I have a two month old baby the size of my three week olds - it's SO tiny and fast!
I am entertaining my birds by letting them roam the greenhouse and growing them some greens. I also bake them pea cakes - they love them!

1 package Jiffy cornbread mix, prepared as directed
1 can of drained peas (can use any veggies you think they'd like)

Nothing like a nice warm pea cake on a cold winter morning!

Can someone tell me when to grade the birds for weight.

Mine are 20wks.

Is it just adult birds and when is this exactly?

I start at 4 months old but that is me not sure about anyone else

general rule weigh at 6months add 2 oz for maturity from there.
for instance my cockerel sonny is 13.3oz im adding 2oz for him to mature. hence his adult done growing weight should be 15.3oz
that is a guess but its fairly accurate unless you are feeding a ton of protein

Thank you everyone, I appreciate the thoughts. And TailTuff you made me laugh with the double post comment. Last night wasn't easy and this morning isn't going to be easy either, now I have to bury them. But it's nice to know that I have friends on here and I have other little fuzzy butts to look after and eggs that are supposed to hatch soon. Everyone cross your fingers it was just something that these two had and didn't spread to the rest of the chicks.

Everything takes twice as long these days on here. I love your pictures, how did you get their names on there? Did you do that on something else or is that a new feature on here?

Software that came with my camera. When I upload pics to my computer, I can edit them and add text. Lots of different fonts and colors!
