American serama thread!

my little ruth has an eye issue going on, she wouldn't open it, i wiped it down, seemed to be crusted, and sprayed it with vetricin.... any ideas on what might be going on?
They have larger than normal eyes. She may have scratched it and keeping it clean and flushed is the best thing for it . I would use artificial tears or saline and keep an eye on it,Pun sort of intended, look for scratches or punctures and try to find a vet in case it goes bad. It will probably be fine .

This is the extreme of the extreme.....like anything else man gets ahold of..lets see how far we can go with it.....stupid in you ask me.....

Only some birds in Malaysia look like that. As stated before, there are different body types.

That bird is of the more extreme body type, where as others are of the apple body type, where they aren't as extremely upright.

I do have to agree with you, though. I really dislike the way those birds look.

They are fertile and will always be fertile or else how would these still be around ... I am Unlocking them from my flock now and guess what even the 6 oz hen hatch and lays eggs like nothing ... I talk to the real Malaysian breeders and they all they me the same thing yes they are and they will continue to be fertile ... I am going on a vacation in a month or so and will take pics to show and tell ahhaha....

This is a similar extreme as is seen in canaries as well, can't remember the breed name I think they were supposed to have a body the shape of a #7. don't know how they stayed on a perch to eat or mated the hens. A lot of budgies are moving in this direction also as the head features the most in judging the bird has become all sorts of weird with a huge head sitting on top. One word BALANCE.

It's call serama for a reason not OEGB if you ask me ...

Nope they would be associated as a Modern Game. The extreme of the american poultry world.

Originally I thought I preferred the Malaysian birds but after seeing this one I prefer the American The posture on this bird is beyond any reasonable function. They must have issues with fertilizing the hens.
Here is an update of what this boy looks like now and is one of his breeder ... So no problem in that department ...

fertility is not the question but utility . How many eggs of a clutch are filled ? can they straddle the hen properly ? I suppose it only takes one good hookup for a few eggs to be fertile. grateful for the option though I guess. I'll stick with Am.
