American serama thread!

I dont want to risk this one not making it. I peeled off the top of the shell and now I can see the membrane. Im going to bed and going to watch some tv to take my mind off of it. Hopefully it will make some progress on its own....

Missed this again, Ugh! When I did that, the humidity must have been good because the membrane never clouded over. I could see the little guy in there, and I could watch the veins slowly disappear (though I never saw them go away, it was a while before I checked and he'd hopped out of his shell. I do hope he survives! Make sure that humidity is good and high!

Are you getting the cute chick itch, artsyrobin? LOL

Do yours walk okay in the diapers, what size did you have them made and who did you get them from? Still hoping I can figure out how to get mine to work...

I tried to buy them on here but no one was emailing me back! I was really disappointed and needed them in a hurry so i made my own! With leash hooks and everything! If you are handy with a sewing machine i could send you my pattern. I'd be happy to make you some, but i can't make and ship them for as cheap as other people on here so unless you REALLY want them from me, it might not be cost effective to buy them from me. I'm making a bunch more today for mine so they can have choices hehe

Is it normal for them to have stinky diarrhea? About every third poop from them is really runny and stinky and bright yellow.
I am also wondering if its ok to feed my rooster the layer crumbles i feed everyone else?

kukupecpec, you shouldn't feed roosters or chicks layer crumbles, there is too much calcium in it. It's better to get regular feed and a side bowl of oyster shell, so the hens can supplement their diet with calcium but not the others. They somehow know what they need, and what they don't. But the layer feed is not good for chicks or roos.

Figured I would post pics of most of my Serama, can't find pictures of one cockerel and one pullet.

I don't know much about Serama's, but I do know yours look very nice. However, I did notice that you had a Frizzle roo with a Frizzle hen- Big mistake if you are planning hatching eggs. Never breed a Frizzle to a Frizzle as the offspring gets an extra dose of the Frizzling gene, causing the bird to have very poor plumage and extremely breakable feathers. They tend to be missing feathers in certain areas too. If you want to breed Frizzles, put a normal feather roo with the Frizzle hen or vice versa. If you already know this, sorry for my spiel.
