Americana or something else?

We hatch out some white EE Ameraucana's out of every batch of eggs that we hatch.

I think the eggs are coming from our Buff colored EE.

Most of the white chicks end up being Roosters 75%

we sell all before they get 3 months old

Wish you lived closer, I'd buy one or two... would shipping be too dangerous?

We were actually hopeing for a rooster... too young to tell.

The nice Lady told me she laid a brown egg, she thinks...is not sure.

I placed my first order for 8 Langshans, 3 RIR, and 3 BR, at the beginning of October (still very warm out)...when they were 6 weeks old I placed my second order of Easter Eggers and silkies.... (still plenty warm out, no chills) Everyone had arrived active and healthy. But, by the time my first order hit about 10 weeks, they started to die (on a tuesday) the only Vet here, only sees poultry on Mondays... she left me a message with several things to try, which I did religiously, to no avail. By the time I got to see her, I only had 4 left (only 1 Langshan survived). I brought the vet my remaining birds and the recently passed... I was told she could do an autopsy ect. but it cost quite a bit and her best guess was that they were just a weak hatch (after reviewing all of my feeding, water, and bio safety measures) Ideal pretty much told me there was nothing they could do. They don't guarentee ect ect... By that time I had already recieved my last order...So far I've lost one red silkie (who never really grew, very small) and 2 EE.
BTW the str run was 50% each sex for the EE's.
I'm sticking with local breeders as this was devastating to me...

Actually I said I am not sure if she is moulting because I haven't had any blue/green eggs for a couple of months and I am not sure what she lays unless its a brown egg.
I got her with another EE at the last swap of the season and was told she was about a year old. My other two EE's haven't laid any eggs in about a month also. They lay a greenish blue egg.

I have some white EEs and some WL/EE(also white) Some with and without muffs, also I think their some of my Green layers.
But that girl reminds me of my WL/EE roos(no muffs):

But here are some WL/EE pullets(actually I'm not sure if the muff-less one is and EE or WL/EE mix) one with muffs, one without:

The best I could do would be to ship some eggs to you.
I have never shipped, but would try, let me know.
Last hatch, out of 1 doz and 3 where white.
sold all before we could tell sex

I'll be happy to take you up on that in the spring! Please give a heads up when you have a doz. in about a month.
I have to replace to 13 wk old asap, so waiting on babies right now won't work and I won't have room for more chicks for a bit.
I still like the lil white pullet nhanna has, even if the hen is a cross and doesn't pass for Roberta....still a pretty girl.

Of all of them to lose it's just my luck to lose the rare pure white one!

Thanks all for being so helpful!!

Aw thank you for using the close up of my Liberty as an example...She is a really sweet girl other than not wanting to be held... But she will follow me around. She lays a beautiful blue egg. I got her off of Shelleyd2008 in the Summer... We were just discussing her the other day about her heritage. We were thinking she may be an Araucana/Ameraucana mix as she showed no tailhead for a long time then suddenly we had a tail. Shelley couldn't remember whose batch of eggs she got her from.

With the one in question laying a brown egg I wouldn't use her if you are wanting blue eggs. I had my blue Am(Boo) shipped to me from the west coast this past Summer... She arrived fine and healthy but somewhat traumatized and hasn't started laying yet, even though the lady thought she was laying before shipping. I think she had her mixed up with another because Boo(my blue Am) has never even had a red comb and face yet. I think she's just going to be a late bloomer.

Good luck in your quest for a white EE...

Cindy
