I bought hatching eggs from breeder off of ebay. Two chicks look like BR feathering. One has the bearding, rose comb and flowing tail feathers,no spurs. Another with short rounded feathering and one heck of a comb and wattles. A 3rd with spurs and looks like what I'd expect an Americanna to look like.
My questioin is about the Board Rock like coloration of the feathers on the 1st 2 mentioned. A seller on craigslist was selling Araucannas and made mention of the hens being crossed with board rocks and cuckoo-marans and that their eggs were mor of an ivy green.
Is it a commopn practice to cross araucannas or americannas with BR or CMs?

Yes, to make olive eggers. As long as he told you they were crosses it's fine. If you are looking for blue/green eggs, check for pea combs. If there is no pea comb, you will most likely get white, tinted or brown eggs and not blue or green. They sound beautiful! (I raise barred Ameraucana cross olive eggers. I have been working on them for a year almost)

I have several BR over BBS Ameraucana birds (not EEs) and some folks here also have them from my flock, a cross I made on purpose. The girls lay green eggs and have varying degrees of barring. I call that cross a Barred Easter Egger just to say that the hens lay green eggs.

onthespot has some great pics of her Barred Bearded Olive Eggers/eggs on her website

here is a pullet and cockerel of mine they are true Ameraucana/Marans cross

Blue Barred(they seem to end up with varying amounts of barring while the black are more consistant)
