Blue, in the first pic, upper right hand, black&brown, kinda hunched..... That's Oreo. Small(bout 35 lbs), wirey, friendly, awesome awesome awesome puller. Never stops. Her line is always guitar string tight. Drawbacks, shorthair, floppy ears. I want to breed her to Regal in hopes of getting his ears and coat and size with her heart. What you think?
Personally, I would defiantly go for it.

If I lived closer to you I would buy a male in a heart beat.

If Meringue proves herself with some races, I think I want to breed her. Any thoughts on that?

Haha on me. If I didn't better I'd swear you were my own daughter. To coin a phrase" great minds think alike"
K, if I may be so bold as to be straight,.... Judging by the pix I've seen of Meringue and what you've said about her, ....
For size, brains and heart, I would use Burner in her. He's also got " true dog" heart. He's a great puller but not "stupidly" hardworking. He's gota use his head and that takes energy so he saves it for thinking, but he never "slacks his line" totally.
Brawn and no brains would be Patrick or Bulldozer. They'd add color & hair and size & mass. Even though they are even smaller than their mom, Pipoon, and way smaller than their dad, Toba, they have the genetics for larger frames. It's actually my fault for their diminutive frames. I essentially starved them by feeding them commercial dogfood. Not the worst but definitely not the best brand/formula. Lesson learned, money don't solve really that many probs(I had a bit of a windfall so I thought I would play it rich and feed them commercial instead of meat and fish and making soup for them.)
If you want truly awesome looking dogs(more like the old style Iditarod dogs) such as the dogs you can see on Nushagak Kennels' site(Bing, Luke Bernard, Lucy, Ita) but with more colors then I would put Regal into her.
If you want everthing from Regal but more of a typical Sibe/Indian/Iditarod colors, Max is the stud for that.
As I said though, all Baby's offspring were born with an innate desire to work hard. If I could get away with it I would breed Burner to Pipoon(his litter mate) and have 100% "true dogs" but as it goes gona wait for Oreo to come into season for Burner. Or more likely

Sorry. My attention was required elsewhere for a while. Where was I?

OK.
Or more likely Regal first. Size, feet, coat and color, plus he's getting old so I want some of his blood passed on. Then take a "true" bitchpup from him&Oreo then get Burner's blood in.
Knowing your dogs individually and as a blood line is great knowledge to carry. I've had these bloodlines for 20 years. Actually more. I know 6&7 generations of my dogs.
ArctiWolf, Qimmiq, Sibe, Mal, and now some Racers from well known and winning kennels. I've known some of these guys for almost 30 years. Some of these guys have racing since their dads were young.lol Actually in some cases that's true.
Wow.i sure can ramble eh.
K. I haven't been outside yet and it's almost lunchtime.
Get back to y'all later

Thank you all for the rave reviews.
Yes Rosiegirl you may instagram pix. Whatever that is.
Please do credit me as "tapiskootskiyas Dogsled & Wilderness Experience".
tapiskootskiyas (ta-pih-skoots-caw-yass)is a Cree term broadly translates in English to "just like long ago".
Please remember to use only lower case letters to write it.

Logistically it is lots&lots of red tape to ship a k9 to the US from here. It could get really expensive.
One alternative is bringing Nala for a vacation when she's about to come into season. That way 2 birds can be killed with one stone, fam vacation and pups. Yes they would have astoundingly beautiful pups wouldn't they.
I usually sell my pups for $500.00 for males and $700.00 for females. I have some go for $200.00 if I thought they wouldn't measure up on line. That's made a fool of me sometimes though because some of them grew huge and powerful with a mushing dog attitude. So now I like to keep my dogs till I know for sure what they're gona look and act like.

Thanks!
I wonder if I could.... Is there a stud fee?
Hummmm, I'm gunna pay 500 for no sled dogs so 500 for working lines from you doesn't sound half bad. I know there's a 50/50 on them but, better then blind lines.
How often do u breed?

How old is burner?

Thanks!

I just came in for a snack and checked my emails while my tummy settled. Got a notice you'd responded.

Burner is 8. He's hitting the prime age for a nice measure/mixture of smarts and brawn. If I keep him in good shape he can lead till he's about 11-12.
I breed 1 ***** every 8 months or so. I mean of all of them. I don't breed the same one every 8 months. That's too much $$ load to feed so many at once. Besides I am a tad older and although very active, I don't have quite the energy as a few years ago.
So of the 4 bitches I do have now each one may have a litter every 1&1/2or2 yrs .....MAYBE.
This Pipoon's last though. She's getting to old. I hope she gets through this one with little to no problem. I put the vet on alert though just in case.

A stud fee would be first pick male and first pick female. That means, before any of the pups can be sold or claimed I wait till they are 8 weeks old and then I pick which ones I want. That or in this case you would most likely need to bring her here as I will not be going anywhere real soon with my dogs as well as I will most likely not be going down to Kansas to try bring back puppies across the border, so... $750.00 up front. i could possibly meet u&fam @ the border though.
As I posted earlier, a guy from Calgary had a ***** that whelp out 5 and sold them for $950.00 each and I didn't even get to see the pups much less pick them, and he didn't even offer me a cent.
This may sound mean and/or selfish but because I've been ripped off so many times I need to protect my investments of all energies ive put into my dogs.
All transactions will need to be upfront/ahead of time. In the event of "first pick M&F" I will write a contract that will need to be signed by both parties before the breeding even takes place.

Lots to think about but that's the way it is now.
I hope you comprehend the situation. I hope you can see where I'm coming from.
It's not my intention that anyone would become hurt, angered or insulted. Just takin care of business.......

That sounds far. If we did breed them,
On average how many pups per litter do u get from his pairings?
I'm gunna talk to mom tonight about it.
I'll take full responsibility on these pups. If mom says yes, I'll build Nala a nice warm dog house. That way she can well outside and the pups be used to it.

You basically got Meringue down. Her main fault is her size. She only 35lb and she doesn't seem to 'get muscle' as quickly as her siblings did. a bit too small for the type of distance dog I want but I think she could do a sprint race. When I hook her up with other dogs it looks like St. Barnards running with a grey hound.

Darn it!!! I wish I still had Griz. He had everything I wanted for my dogs. Size, brains, fur, personality!

I have a chocolate lab female I'm thinking about breeding. Who would be best to cross on her? I know she isn't really the right breed, but she's all I got (for now). If I were to breed her, who would be the best choice? I want something with thicker fur so the pups can withstand our winters (she shivers nonstop on really cold days) but not too thick to where they are really hot in the summer. She is super smart but little pulling drive. Do you have any males that would cross well? I'm mainly looking for faster dogs, that pull very well, and medium length coat. Who do you think would be best?

On average I get 8 whelps in a brood. I've had as many as 10 but that's rare. Too many anyways.
How many pups is determined by the mom. Her health, her diet, even breed. A Sibe's average is apparently 6 though which is an excellent sized brood. Enough milk to go around and a bit more for pups with a bigger appetite.
I'm open as to timing but it will need to be planned well in advance. I am gone sometimes for a week end or sometimes 3 days during the week during the summer.
Of course I would NEED pix for my "portfolio" of my dogs' bloodlines.
So lets see what happens.
