I treat all my dogs the same regardless of breed, a percieved"family pet" breed or otherwise. If they are nuerotic so be it. Just like humans dog come in many colors, shapes, and "dog"alities. Most ad friendly for the most part. One try to get lazy, some are born hard workers. Some are kinda shy and som are outgoing as all get out. Some are submissive aggressive and some just plain aggressive. I get rid of the realy aggressive ones. Can't keep those one around when I have small children wanting to"visit the puppies".
Exercise is for all. Really old ones and injured ones are run together for shorter distances and at a slower pace........if they can. If not, I just leash walk.
Please
No need to apologize to me for asking questions.

Ooooops
I meant to say".....you might never know."
My sweet old Nana probably had a sweet smile and a little chortle seeing my mistake.

:thumbsup

Nice harness. If I had that type when I was younger I probably would've considered myself rich. The many kinds of harnesses available nowadays is astounding to me. Gee I've even fabricated so many that were similar to today's variations. I just stick to X-backs now. Simple, effective and durable. Just like me.
Besides, it's much easier to just buy as opposed to sitting and hand sewing for hours.

I spoke with someone at Adanac a few months ago. I can't remember her name tho'.
I told her I noticed what the name of her company is when spelled backwards. She chuckled and told me I was one of very few that noticed and confessed it is a play on the name. Check it out and you'll see why it kinda made me proud.

Well well.....it snowed lastnight. I woke up bout 6 to see about 1/2inch on the ground. The sun is shining really bright. Gona have a 2nd breakfast of deer meat and taters with onion and some peas and get back outside. But first I wanna try get up some pix of the dog transport I refurbished.

IT WORKED. :celebrate I've been trying off&on to do it for 2 days.
As I said earlier, some new 1/2"plywood(roof), some repurposed 3/4"plywood(floor) and repurposed 1/2"plywood(ends).
I repurposed some expanded metal screen to replace the "ugly" stuff hat was on there. The hinges and latches are original as are th side panels.
I will be adding some artwork later. Ya, probably clear some space in my garage since the warm weather is almost certainly a done deal for this year.
HAGD y'all.

Awesome! Sounds like you have a nice mix of dogs and they all do just fine :) that's nice you're so caring with the older or injured ones.

And very true, thanks :)

Ya, sled dog collar. .... and yet again.... Ya,

Awesome, thanks. I'll have to get one. :) hopefully I can find one that fits though that isn't designed for smaller dogs haha

Yeah, I'm not opposed to crates in that situation either, I think a few hours is fine, not sure I made that clear. But I am opposed to people leaving them in there the entire day every single day.

And yeah, I don't really agree with it either, was just stating that some people say that, sorry if that wasn't clear either.

I've just seen like in the breed descriptions and online and stuff people say that they don't make good outside dogs because they like being with the family and would be miserable. Well I think as long as you spend time with them every day they are fine. Now, if they were raised inside and you all of a sudden just threw them out there they might be miserable, i think they have to be used to it.

But I also think that most dogs even ones they claim are fine outside are miserable if you ignore them. I mean, if you take them outside to say train, hunt, run, go hiking or car ride, or whatever, then it's really no different than them living inside and spending time with them, right?[/quo

Excellent points. I actually disagree with any large outdoor breeds being kept indoors. It's not respectful. It's like taking. Plat bear to live with polar bears just because we have the ability to transport him/her there( to Africa). :lau
It's ludicrous. However thats the attitude that puts BCs in crates and longhaired Malamutes on couches in cities. We humans are not known for our humility and intraspecies respect. Gee we can't even have that for intraracial relations a great deal of the times.

Thank you! And yeah, that's true. I wish people would either not get certain breeds in their situation or if they do want to get those breeds, since the damageis already done and they're all already everywhere/house pets, then at the very least properly exercise it. Like they could be a couch potato after they exercise but they don't belong on crates or in the city. They need to run or something

Thank you
I think it looks decent too

Now to everyone.... What do you figure about this suggestion? Pix of equipment and description of what we've done to tweek it/them. I'm always open to sharing. That's one way I come up with tweeks. Everyone has input and we all benefit.
LOL I e heard "Too many cooks spoil the soup.", but in this case I believe"Many hands make light the work.", is more the case.

I was just on Sled Dog Central. Can you imagine a 2500 mile dog sled race?
If I was a bit younger and not so banged up I would love to take my dogs and do it.
I believe the Beringia and Kamchatka races are being combined.
Wow! That's like -50 is a balmy day there.
The Iditarod would seem like a stroll through Eden.
I think Qimmiqs( Canadian and Greenland strains) would be the order of the day for that race. Scratch the AlaskanHusky off that roster.
Mind you, you never know. They might just do it. What y'all figure?
