Thank you
I think it looks decent too

Now to everyone.... What do you figure about this suggestion? Pix of equipment and description of what we've done to tweek it/them. I'm always open to sharing. That's one way I come up with tweeks. Everyone has input and we all benefit.
LOL I e heard "Too many cooks spoil the soup.", but in this case I believe"Many hands make light the work.", is more the case.

I was just on Sled Dog Central. Can you imagine a 2500 mile dog sled race?
If I was a bit younger and not so banged up I would love to take my dogs and do it.
I believe the Beringia and Kamchatka races are being combined.
Wow! That's like -50 is a balmy day there.
The Iditarod would seem like a stroll through Eden.
I think Qimmiqs( Canadian and Greenland strains) would be the order of the day for that race. Scratch the AlaskanHusky off that roster.
Mind you, you never know. They might just do it. What y'all figure?

That sounds exhausting just thinking about it! Lol and idk, i dont know much about mushing, and I'd be all up for a new challenge and all, but to me it seems rather long! I mean dogs die or get hurt or whatever in just the Iditarod, right? Imagine the strain on the dogs for that much longer. Buuuuuttttt.... the dogs also love to run right? And it'd be cool to be able to say you did it!!! I'd guess you'd just have to take more precautions with yourself and the dogs is all.

I've never worked with Qimmiqs. Only Alaskans, Labradors, and tomorrow I'm going to run some Siberians with a friend. I think Alaskans could do the race pretty well with training and good care. I mean, there are Alaskan Husky mushers who run Quest and then Iditarod with the same dogs.

I can't really say about exhausting although I am finally able to comprehend what people mean when they say they're played out.
Must be an age thing. Well actually .."not really because I know a lot of people not even half my age and I hear them saying it. LOL! Much too often far as I'm concerned.
Dogs die everyday. People shoot them, they get poisoned, hit by cars, drown, they kill each other in territorial disputes, dogfighting rings, puppy mills, "shelters" "euthanize" them..... Gee, some are butchered as food. Which is no different than us butchering cows really. If we are to judge people for eating dog meat just remember that on that specific note there are tons more people in India that could justifiably judge us for eating domestic bovine.
People die everyday too. On Tuesday I am to co-conduct a burial service for a community member. Heart attack. He was 15 years younger than me. 2 weeks ago I lost an old friend. Just didn't wake up. We were the same age. My dad (83 yrs old)is the first born of his siblings. His baby brother and baby sister are both dead as are 2 more of brothers as well as all his friends. In my yard I have 1 tree that is 90+ years old. Probably the grandmother of the rest of the trees in my immediate area. All her brothers and sisters are long gone?
Yes, dogs love to run. That is their life force right there. They have evolved to be marathon runners. Well IDK bout Pug, Bulldog and other unnatural canines but all the ones that have somewhat retained Wolf's general physique, you know like Qimmiq, Alaskan & Siberian, Ibizan, Saluki, BC's and such, still can run distance at a rather high speed. All said on that last note a whole lot of conditioning would need to take place.
Yes precautions ..yes,yes,yes.. The more the merrier so to speak. But death is a natural occurrence that sometimes science or our frail human ego/mind can't/won't explain.
It would be a huge challenge to do this race though. To finish with all your dogs all in good health and all in good spirits would be my ultimate challenge.
Money ain't real. Real friends are. My dogs are the best friends I've ever had and probably ever will have.

Your insight got me going this morning. LOL

Im so glad you work with your dogs so much.
Sibes are pretty and the breed is a fast breed, for a spitz.
Although the Alaskan is based from the Sibe they are indeed bred for more speed.
I had totally forgotten bout some teams doing the "Rod" and the "Quest" back to back.
And in reality the original Sibe was more or less an Alaskan anyhow. A "pariah" sort of dog.
I wonder if there any pure strains of them old Siberian dogs left over there eh????
It'd sure be great to bring in some fresh blood of the originals back here.
I'd add it to the Anydors and Seppallas and still have "original blood.

Anyways... Mush on Blue.

I just wanted to pop on here real quick.

Sparked my mind when you said Iditarod.Did you know, a Group of Poodles ran the Iditarod 4 times and finished each time?

You bring up a lot of good points and thanks for your insight too :)

I hadn't really thought of it like that but you are right - dogs die every day anyway so why not doing something they love? I mean, obviously like you said, having them be in good health and/or live is the goal but if they do, at least they did it running.

And yes, in India cows are sacred, right? I found this interesting book and ordered it several months ago but never read it
1f602.png
but anyway, it was all about what makes one animal food versus a cute pet, etc. In different parts of the world and how here dogs and cats are "cute" and untouchable and cows and that we cant think of as anything but food yet in other places cows are sacred and dogs are food and what's the difference, etc. Idk, it sounded really interesting but i dont read or do anything anymore thanks to this dang phone

That is sad but life i suppose

Very true, never realized it was wolf/natural physique. Yes, pugs, bulldogs, etc., probably can't run lol but then again, some of them want to. I think it's cruel to breed them with such short noses. In fact, the original used to have longer noses and they have gotten shorter and shorter. There is actuallt a breeder in Germany I think it is trying to bring back the original pug. It's fascinating. A little bit longer nose, longer legs, and I think a less curled tail because supposedly the curled tail can cause back problems. I think it's fantastic. And guess what? They're still just as cute. I mean really, there is no need for the cruel muzzle. They can't even breathe properly in summer or exercise and idk if it's all small dog breeds or just some but they can't birth naturally which is absolutely ridiculous to me. Looking at a picture of a pug skull next to a wolf or dog skull is even more depressing too.

Sorry, I guess I got off on a bit of a rant too LOL

Anyway, yes, lots and lots of conditioning would indeed be needed

:)

Oh geez....... I hope you realize that all the emoticons I used are to show how I can relate to your confusion.
I wasn't trying to be facetious.
If I am being too familiar please let me know.

I didn't think you said anything wrong! And I think my intentions didn't come out the clearest either, I was simply trying to be nice/for lack of better word make you feel better about saying the wrong species and was saying even though you did that it was okay because i still understand what you meant. I think it came off like i was upset or something but far from it! Tone doesn't tend to translate well over the internet haha
