Hey. We got a few little wee snowflakes blowing around here. :clap Definitely " long-johns weather".
If I wasn't so darn under the weather

I'd be ecstatic and outside in it, busily hooking up the dogs for a training/conditioning run.
On that note, I made a training trail on Sunday. I used my son-in-law's quad pulling 4 diamond-toothed-harrows sectoons in single file. Did an awesome job detangling and flattening the meadow grasses.
I need to go do chores anyway but I'm gona dress really warm. I think I'll even put on my wool turtle-necked sweater under my windbreaker jacket this time. I don't wana catch a bad cold to deter me when mushing season starts........SOON.....I hope!!!

Lucky! i wish it would snow here. We have frost so we are getting closer lol.
TTYL!

Haha maybe I will see you at Race to the Sky, If i can get the plane $$ lol. Know whats funny? MY friend has a dog named Rowdy!

Haha that would be awesome! And that's cool, Rowdy is kinda common, though.

This is such a cool thread. I really enjoy spoutong mushing here. Aint many people where I live that mush so not many to talk to. All the old mushers have taken that last and most glorious sled ride.
I wish there were guys interested in mushing here(on this thread)though. Seems to me most guys are too worried about getting a job so they can buy a car or truck then attract a gal then keep working so they can buy a house for the gal they wanna attract .

I was 31 when I met my wife. I already had everything needed in a home. Except my home was just a 13X13 cabin with a loft. Nice view from the top of that hill though. Maybe I'll build a retirement home up ther one day and raise Qimmiq, Appaloosa horses, buffalo and all kinds of birds.
Oh my, just rambling here. I'm such a nerd, HA! Old nerd!:lau

Anyway.....Who-ever wants to use those names.... I'm cool with it. I wouldn't have put them here if I didn't want anyone using them. Just make sure you remember the meaning and tell people if they ask about it/them.
I even have some Inuktitut(politically correct name for Eskimo)words for names. My adopted son is from Baker Lake, Nunavut and he remembers his language.
So if anyone wants an Inuktitut or Cree name for your dog/s just tell me the English version and I will do my best to go get them translated for you.
Gee. I just looked at the clock. It's 12:50 here. G-nyt.

Hey, a 13 x 13 foot cabin is good enough for me! I just need a few horses, couple cows, my birds, a team of dogs, and maybe a few pigs. I could live on my own and I would be fine. :D

I'm sorry young lady. I cant really help you just there. :idunno
I don't even know what those names mean in English. I think Levi is kinda like a low man made dike along a watercourse. But I don't know for sure.
So I ain't even gona try translate it because I could be horribly wrong.

In these languages there are nuances, some very subtle, that could totally change the meaning. They are both very precise...very exact. That's why I stated that every word tells a story.
Tell you what,, I'll leave it up to you to do the research and once you do, share the story of that name on this thread and then I will do my best to find it in Cree or Inuktitut .
Deal?
NOTE. I usually charge nothing less than $500.00 for an hour and up to $1200.00 for a full day for this service at educational facilities but this is different. You guys are my kinda people. Y'all are my mushing family.

Well....an extension. ... .because I have my own biological children that like mushing too..... ..and my niece down the river.

That's a LOT!

I know the meaning for the English name. I'm not 100% sure of these though.

Cole: People's victory

Addie: Man of red earth or son of Adam.

Rosco: Heathland of the roe deer (Or something like that)

Levi:  Associated with him

I just want to know how to say them. Lol, my crushes name is Cole Addie. So I want to call him by name in a new language:) lol.

Cute
I'll go talk to some people soon. Some things are kinda hard to translate. Maybe by Sunday I'll have all the translations. Maybe even some of them will be in Inuktitut. Or maybe each will be in both Inuktitut and Cree. That way you can choose whats easier or nicer sounding. We'll see what works out. K?

lol. So hows Nala?

Ya. How's she doin?

To charnic44
Actually that's not a lot. It's cheap compared to some. Actually most talk about what they've read from a book as opposed to living it.
At the rates I charge I'm actually just touching the base line and providing a much needed resource to people....from someone they can actually relate to.
If I were to accept an invitation from a large company they'd pay a base of $1000.00 a 6hr day(including 1hr lunch break), all meals, lodgings(4-5star accommodations), 2 way travel and incidentals.

Thanks. :) lol.

Nala's great! She now on puppy food and soft real meat. Her teats are large and her bellys soft and she's filling up her milk supply. Lol,
Me and my family had a argument over how much to price the pups. Me and my brorher(Nala's owner) agree $300 is a good price! Everyone else says free, because "No one wants a mutt" and "no one wants them without papers" BOTH are SOOOOOO wrong! I'd pay $1,500+ for one of Nala's designer mutts. SIBERIAN RETRIVERS! Soooooo cute!
She's about 51/2weeks along maybe more maybe less.

Thanks.

I think $300 hundred is too much. Of course you would pay top dollar for her pups. Your her owner! However, since they are going to be companion dogs and possible working dogs, $300 is a lot. Now even if they were sleddogs, i would NEVER pay that much for a pup that
a. doesn't come from a working line
b. hasn't proven them self
c. the parents hasn't proven themselves
d. I am not able to look at, at least one of the parents and watch them run.

Yeah i know that is for mushing but my point was i wouldn't pay some one that much for a dog, unless it was a working dog with good family lines or it has proven him of herself.
Good luck with the pups though. Also they are mixes, not mutts. There is a difference. :) I have to side with you on the "no papers thing though." A pet/ companion dog doesn't need papers. Only one of my dogs has papers.

I agree. Most people who want a pet or a working dog don't have lots to spend. I would say $100 to $150 tops, no offense. Yes, huskies are very expensive but since they are mixes (not mutts) the price comes down lots, and Labs are not very expensive as most people have them so the price comes down more. I mean no disrespect, but her future pups really aren't worth $300. Usually females are a little more than males (which I think is stupid!). Plus, this wasn't a planned breeding so that could bring the price down, too. I don't mean to be mean, just trying to help. :)
