We have snow in the mountains...like HIGH in the mountains. Hopefully we'll get on sleds this weekend. it's snowing right now
Are you saying you will transport your dogs to the higher elevatios to go mushing? Do you have proper transport? (I usta chain my dogs in the back of the truck and trailer my sleds.) Is there mush ready trails up there?
Good news. Well....for me anyhow. It was snowing a bit as I was travelling to work on Tuesday.

When I really took notice of the type of flakes that were falling I said, "It's gona snow for quite awhile. I may

be able to actually use the sled this evening.".

I was right but I had no idea that it would

still be snowing today.
I'm gona need to use the snowshoes to pack a trail just so my leader doesn't stumble. JK! We only got about 8 inches that gets real hard and stays for a long time. Not the large, fluffy stuff that skiers seems to like. The fine stuff. It packs so nice.
And as far as I'm concerned it's so pretty.

I love the way it lots in the bush. Now indeed when the sun shines.
Now to borrow my dad's snomo. It makes trail-dressing so easy. A lot faster too.

I finished the transport unit. well...except for the vent. I'm just waiting for my buddy to finish with my jigsaw. Here's some pix of it and the snomo sled I transformed into 1 tuff, tuff freighting sled ooops don't know what happened here.

Square aluminum tubing bent by embers of a Hutterite colony and bolted to sled. plywood backboard with space behind for axe, spare necklines, etc. & other storage.

Blu/W Derby rope hookline attached through hitch point to gangline. There's 2 of these 3700lb test "hooklines". Main tug(White) is a single 4700lb Derby rope.

Runners are cut to fit 1X4 clear oak that has been stained and oiled to preserve the wood. It's been attached to sled with glue and screwed from inside of sled with 1" #10 brass screws and fender washers. The brake is 2-3#X10"gate hingesand angle iron (fro an old bed frame. I don't know why the pic is slashed. it happened when I I turned the image using Photo Viewer. Never happened till today.

.

I didn't turn these so the perception is off. But the doors seal up nice. All I need to do is cut the vent holes and put in the screen, then stain the whole works.

The vent cut-out stencil looks kinda like this. My wife said the one I'm going to use(which I have no image of right now) looks like me. LOL

I've done this. I'm proud of myself.

Nah, but it gives us hope. WE HAVE SNOW NOW!!!!!!

Rez: Lookin' good! I like your stencil design, its pretty. We have 2-4 inches of snow that has stayed so far. Not quite enough for a snow hook so we're still on the four wheeler. :(
Thank you. Although I wasn't going for pretty..LOL.
Ya. Same here. Not enough snow for a hook. But the ground aint froze so I just stomp it down good. Still didn't get out in the fresh snow though. Too busy at work with extra hours. The $$ is nice but it aint very conducive to my chosen lifestyle.

My truck has been in the shop

I should've just bought an old beater 4X4 for the winter just so I could pull my trailer.

I did a solo run with Hank today on a flat bottem sled thingy, for 1/2 at just over a walk and he did.? AMAYZING!
Still playful but he's more serious( well at least he was today)
Just need to work on his turns and put more miles on him! He lead all by him self. Proud Moment lol

Glad for you things are goin well with mushing Hank. Yes, keep training him. He's starting to grow out of his "puppyness" by the sound of things.

Oh and there was my 2 year old nephew in the sled! He's 25-30 lbs? I'll get pics tomorrow

We got almost a foot of snow

. I cant see the training trail now. Actually I can see where it was but apparently the dogs don't. Some of the drifts are 2-3 feet deep so I boro'd my dad's snomo to pack some trails. My sons are going to be home with the rest of us so everyone wants to go mushing. I am happy to be healthy enough and proud to be able to go mushing with my g-kids during the X-mas holidays.
Happy Holidays everyone. I pray you are blessed in all aspects of your personal humanity.
