It was good. I didn't run it but we went up anyway. The wind was crazy and I felt bad for the 100 mile and 200 mile racers. I got to talk to a lot of mushers as one wants me to go down and train with him!How was Eagle Cap? I wanted to go but we had semester finals in school.

I hear ya. For me, I wasn't comfortable running a team of 6 dogs. It was crazy windy at Eagle and I've never had to run in that so it was a good thing i didn't go. Plus my friend saw a cougar on the trail XDYeah. I'm still not sure if I will be running it or not. I don't think I have enough miles on the dogs right now but I think if they are pushed we could do it. That and getting gear and myself ready along with fixing the brushbow/basket on my good sled. I really want to go and feel like I'm mentally ready but the dogs aren't quite physically there and with only 1 proven leader and 3 potential leaders, they've got some mental training to do as well. Oh well, I think I'm done ranting(ish).

Well, Iditarod mushers have a lot of weight in the sled XDYeah that's scary. I don't even know what I'd do if some predatory animal charged at my team.Throw my axe at them? XD lol. I think I could deal with the wind, for me it's when there isn't hardly any snow, just ice, and a snow hook won't set. Mine has failed a few times and I've almost lost the team. Running 6-8 dogs is much different than say, a 2-4 dog team. 2-4 dogs you can hold back (for the most part) but 6-8 dogs, it's not gonna happen. Makes me wonder how all the Iditarod teams handle 16... They'd basically have to ride the brake the whole time, lol.![]()
