So this is my first day on BYC and I was told I should put some pictures up of the 2 suspect birds that were supposed to be pullets, so here goes I hope I can figure this out. The first picture, we are pretty sure this is a Roo the second one im not too sure.
The first Easter egger is definitely a rooster, his comb also has more than one row ( this is a method of sexing Easter Eggers or other pea comb breeds, it isn't 100% accurate though). Can you get some body picture of the second chicken?
I'm going to be optimistic and go with pullet for the second. It's got the different color pattern on the black and white bird, a single row on the comb and the legs look thinner.
It would be great if you could update us in a month or so? I'm always interested to see how things turn out.
Oh, and great pictures, btw! It's so frustrating to try to guess from some of the horrible pics folks throw up here......these are very nice
I don't know, they both have rooster squinty eyes!
Seriously, I think #1 is a rooster. See the 3 rows of "peas" on his comb? Boys have 3, girls have 1.
The second one has a single comb, which usually means that if it's a girl, she'll lay a brown tinted egg. But, it's tailfeathers look pretty pointy and silky, so I vote rooster for that one too.
