Americauna vs Araucana

bj--I don't know what that bird is, but it isn't an easter egger. You should start your own thread to avoid confusion with the OP's bird and post a profile shot of the bird standing, that will give us the best idea of what it is. But with a single comb and feathered feet, that's not an easter egger, or any type of ameraucana/aracauna.

it could be an ee just not a 1st generation i have seen ee's with straight combs and all sorts of colored legs including feathers on them some were 1st but most have been 2nd+ generations

Hm-m-m you'd think a well known Farm Supply store would sell chicks by the correct name. Well, even if my chick isn't an Aracauna he/she is pretty. The chick is being raised by one of my Blue Cochin hens. She fostered 10 chicks not her own. I never really noticed the color of it's skin, just know the legs aren't green. I thought this would be a good place to check on the sex of the chick since the thread title is Ameracauna vs Araucana.

The farm supply stores label what the hatchery tells them to label them. Hatcheries refuse to adhere to truth in advertising with their Easter Eggers, calling them Ameraucanas/AmerIcanas/Araucanas, when they are plain Easter Eggers, a mixed genetic soup of a bird.

There is NOTHING wrong with an Easter Egger. I have one who looks much like the bird in the first post, but I also have true Ameraucanas from a breeder who look nothing like her other than having beard and muffs. The Ameraucanas lay blue eggs, as they should. The EEs I have lay green eggs.

I purchased an Aracauna at Orschlin store , suppose to be hatched 4/4/12. I picked out one with the largest comb hoping for a Roo. Now I'm not so sure.

Tried getting a good picture of the comb, but the sunlight wasn't cooperating. Any thoughts as to this chicks gender? Foster Momma is in bottom right corner.
Salmon Favorelles cockeral, does he have 5 toes on each foot?

I was really hoping this chick is a cockeral. Yes he has 5 toes. Black background color w/some deep mahogany red color. Think he's going to be beautiful.
