My 14 month old americauna won't leave her perch/coop this morning. She was acting perfectly normal yesterday. She is not Broody.(She has been before and this is not the same).
She just standing on her perch, listless and continually closing her eyes.
Her poo has been pretty watery the past couple weeks -- could it be worms? do worms kill chickens? are eggs safe to eat if they have worms?

We recently added two new 10wk olds to their run but have kept them pretty much separated for most of the time. The young ones have been vaccinated and look healthy for the past 7 weeks.
The sick hen is the coop leader in the pecking order and is also the one who best gets along with the new additions and seems the least stressed by them.

please help.. any advice you can offer is much appreciated.

Worms are a possibility. Yes, they can kill chickens if the load is heavy enough. And yes, the eggs are safe, except they need to be tossed for a while when you give a wormer. I would also check for lice / mites if you haven't. -- which again can kill a chicken if they are heavily infested. There are other possibilities, of course -- but these are treatable. I'll give you a few links in case they will help.

thanks for the response. Its great to know that eggs are still edible if they have worms (minus a de-worming medical period)
After more research on the site, I think she might have Ascites. She is very bloated! and is waddleing if walking at all, she also is avoiding us from getting close and picking up which is unusual as she like peple a lot.
She is a little more active today and ate some food. we didnt see her eat yesterday so this is an improvement.
from what i read, it doesnt look like there are many successful treatments for ascites.
thanks again for your reply. the information on the worms is really helpful, I have alway been fearfull that the other ladies have/or will get them
