4 years old?? Oh my, my d'Anvers are between 1 year and 10 years old. Some old ladies for sure but that doesn't stop them from their favorite past time... setting!!3 d'Anvers hatched this morning!
My oldest bird is still Praline but the second oldest is now Lovebird the black free range d'Anvers hen. Ever since we got sold Starling, the oldest birds on this farm have been d'Anvers, but this is more because they are seen as pets rather than an indication of their lifespan. That said, many breeders say they have a longer lifespan than most breeds, but so far I haven't had one live longer than four.
Praline is 5 now (2020 hatch) and still going strong. I got my first d'Anvers 6 years ago though and those first two ladies already died so I haven't had my birds for long enough to see them reach old old age yet.4 years old??
