Amusing Conversation with Spouse - "Does that make the eggs any different?"

I guess this is what I get to look forward to when I get married!

I convinced my parents pretty quick into getting ducks

I told everything to my Mom then she said "Ask your Father." I think she was thinking he wouldn't give up his yard to a couple of ducks. Boy was she wrong. Dad said yes, he loves the idea. Heck he wants to keep a pig in the backyard. This is also coming from a guy who wants a rooster and a monkey.

My boyfriend however wasn't to sure on the idea of his gf being obsessed in ducks and getting them. He wants them so he can eat them, not keep them as pets.
He thought Muscovy ducks were ugly. UNTIL, I showed him they wag their tail. He thought that was cool. They officially won him over today though when I sent him pictures of the ducklings we're going to look at. That was the longest "Awwwwwww" text he's ever sent me lol.

I'm hoping I can swing him onto the idea of chickens too

When I first met my husband I put him through the ropes to see if his intentions were genuine.

"Hey, I know I worked all day and didn't see you yesterday, so meet me at the barn"

Him: "Ok"

"So, there's the wheel barrow, here's the fork, there's the stall... I'm going to go ride. Oh, and empty the water buckets too please!"

Him: "Ok"

"Babe, funny story. I was at the fair coaching some riders and I saw this goat I needed. Here's some lumber and fence, he needs an over night pen"

Him: "Ok"

"OMG are these not the cutest little chickens EVER? Can I have $50 to buy them?"

Him: "Ok"

"I got a puppy"

"Ok"

Him: "Will you marry me?" (about 6 months after we met)

Me: "Ok!!!!!!!!" I mean, yes!

Then yesterday, 12 years later... "So I was thinking about a new chicken coop in the corner over there"

Him: "Ok, can we get Spitzhaubens yet?

Lol, I like this thread! I was just coming on to tattle that my husband secretly loves ducks and now turkeys. Chickens are no biggie to him, but the batch of ducks that just finished hatching... That man was in there every ten minutes checking progress and looking at the hatches. He built a shed for his mower and yard machines, guess who has it now? Yep, the turkeys. He just built a wall in there for them so we can separate a broody hen if needed. The whole time he's in there whistling to them so they chirp and gobble back. I can't keep it secret any longer!!!!! My husband loves ducks and turkeys. I'm thinking of getting him a pekin drake for fathers day to match our pekin duck, oh and a cayuga female (mostly for me) for out cayuga drake. He loves the Pekins they are his absolute favorite.

If I could just figure out how to convert the spouse, he okayed the first 4 ducks. But two duck houses and two more ducks later...within the first six months (drakes had to be separated). So we have room for one more duck in our houses....hence the reason I haven't gotten anymore. Have to get at least two ducklings! And can't get any more drakes since I won't 'dispatch' any 'excess' drakes......now off to clean the two duck houses.
