I think if God has an issue with it, than God should file a complaint. I am quite sure He could find the proper form or phone number.

This letter was obviously not yours or mine that was opened and this gesture was done in a generous spirit.

Actually, I'm very grateful to have found and read this thread, as it's through things like this that many people can discover and rectify things that have gone amiss, like public servants breaking a federal law. It's not being a killjoy, it's pointing out what people may not be able to see through the first flush of emotion. We can work together to ensure that our rights and privacy are not violated again, and perhaps instead of praising a person who breached privacy by committing a federal crime, we can praise the parents who gather up the little letters to Santa and God before they are sent and write their own or have another loving relation write the response to the child. It's loving actions like that that make me appreciate my mother so much, and be thankful that no stranger in some post office ever intruded upon my Santa letters.

That would make sense if this incident did not show that our mail is being read by strangers. Therefore it is our problem, and up to us to stop it before we're the victims.

maybe there is a secret, that the mother went to the post office and did it all herself to make her wonderful daughter happy. get over the braking of the law. whos letter was it. the little girls ask her if she wants to press charges. right after you explain to her there is no god!
i am not saying there is no god. but boy that will be a way to show her.

But YOUR mail is not. It was mail that was going to be thrown away, addressed to GOD, a being that has no address on earth, at least not with a zip code.
I would let my daughter grieve how she wanted and it was important to her to send that letter. That some kind soul cared enough to reply and help is wonderful.

It was probably someone who knew her and the situation.

wow, what a troll. i think you got your point across, you dont think the postmaster should have opened it. we understand your opinion so drop it.

i think it is beautiful. i am crying at work, and i am so glad that someone at that post office had the kind and wonderful heart that they do.
