Yes, too cold.My mom is wanting me to move Peanut back outside... That’s a bad idea right?
I will listen to my mom if she say I have to put her outside, because I would obey her of course, but she has some weird idea that my silkie isn’t actually sick, it’s just too warm in here for her...she nibbles, and drinks. If she's used to the outside temperatures, and your mom wants her out I think you should listen to your mom unless Peanut is lethargic. You said she was acting normal for the most part? Eating and drinking?
Do you have a food or postal scale you can weigh her on? If so, weigh her. If she is losing weight that means she is sick.I will listen to my mom if she say I have to put her outside, because I would obey her of course, but she has some weird idea that my silkie isn’t actually sick, it’s just too warm in here for her...she nibbles, and drinks.
no I do not.. I know she’s sick, she is hunched over, and doesn’t want to walk... believe me, my mom doesn’t know anything about chickens! I was just saying her reasoning... my mom isn’t animal savvy at all.Do you have a food or postal scale you can weigh her on? If so, weigh her. If she is losing weight that means she is sick.
Being too warm is stressful on a chicken. Those feathers are quite warm, even on a silkie. She will do fine outside but kept separately so she doesn't get picked on. Some exercise would be good for her too.I will listen to my mom if she say I have to put her outside, because I would obey her of course, but she has some weird idea that my silkie isn’t actually sick, it’s just too warm in here for her...she nibbles, and drinks.
maybe I’ll put her out tomorrow morning... it’s cold tonight, and I’m not sure how to separate her in a coop... I already have 3 separated groups at the momentBeing too warm is stressful on a chicken. Those feathers are quite warm, even on a silkie. My mother never understood critters either, so I get it.![]()
