An excuse to talk chicken with yaw'll . . . flock plans

I purchased my rooster and umm my pontiac vibe off there 😁😁 I love Craigslist. Just meet in a public place or take your man with ya.
Good looking out; will do.

I have not dealt with them in YEARS. Seems there was a thing about all kind of drama associated with CL. But, I am open to that.

This is what their site says for us:

Your minimum order is:
Large Fowl Chicks: 7
Bantam Chicks: 9
Mixed Order: 8

I just found this on their site, this explains it:
Most of the year, the smallest minimum order is only three chicks, but the minimum for your location could be higher, based on how long the USPS estimates it will take for your order to arrive at your local post office. The longer they tell us it will take, the higher your minimum.

Ideal Poultry is also a good source for chicks next time. They are out of Texas so their birds should be acclimated to the heat, like you have where you are. Lol. They don’t have a minimum number of birds but $30 minimum order which is usually 6-7 birds if you don’t get any on weekly overhatch special. Most run between $4-$5 per chick. I got an order of 10 from them this year, and they let you get just one of each of a number of breeds which is awesome for variety!

Is that linoleum? I like your coop😁 Hubby works at a furniture company and my coop is all scrap ply. Thank God..the price of wood is through the roof.
It is crazy! It is sheet vinyl. We just bought the cheapest stuff that was available at Menards. I wanted to get the stuff that is marked down there, the ones that is at the end of a roll, but they were either too small or too big. And most of those prices were still more than just buying the .49 cent a yard stuff.

And thank you! My hubby says they are spoiled. But hey spoiled chickens, mean happy chickens, which also means eggs lol

Speaking of coops, me and the hubster keep going round and round about the coop floor. He keeps mentioning wire so poop, etc will go through. I keep mentioning a floor like yours because I want to do deep litter method. Ughhhhh.
I’m doing it for that and easy clean up. It will also protect our plywood and let it last longer. Im not sure I would do the wire floor. That’s just me though. Im sure there are a lot of ppl who do it, but I would just rather do the vinyl and wood shaving.

Second using vinyl on the floor. Just use sheet vinyl and not stick on sheets like some noob might do in their first coop. cough

Also @Hip Hillbilly Farm , when you go to expand your flock again, take a look at Australorps since you mentioned the FBCMs. They're heat tolerant, dual-purpose mixes with a good mix of genetics if you look at what they originally came from (Orpington, RIR, etc.). Also have that iridescent black feather + copper neck feather look, just less defined than BCMs.
