I don't see why six screws evenly spaced directly through the back wouldn't be enough for the average banty Hen. A backing of two 1/4" x 2" lathe could be used to reinforce for larger birds. I'm glad this helped some people.

Standard size hens, not bantams which seems to be what sgray has. Sorry if I sound ignorant. I'm still new to this. Don't even have my chicks yet.
