an off topic, less moderated 18+ section?

agreed and not because i'm anti-religion (I am a southern Baptist from way back) I just think we should all be moderated the same...


I have repeatedly flagged the religious threads and they haven't done a thing..

The rules say (emphasis mine):

1. We strongly discourage religious, political, and other strongly divisive topics, and reserve the right to delete them at our discretion.

I.e. we don't disallow religious discussions completely, we keep an eye on them and if they show signs of going south, or the tone is bordering on troublesome, we remove them. Different members here follow different religions and it happened in the past that they clashed over their beliefs, hence the rule.

If you, or anyone else, are unsure about the rules and how they are applied you are welcome to contact a member of staff via private message and ask any questions you may have.

lol i leave for a couple hours and everyone is bent out of shape. to all those who are worried about the religion threads please explain to me how that is any more relavent to chicken keeping them any of the other things I have discussed and why you believe you deserve special treatment while everyone has to follow the rules explicitly. Would you really want your children being exposed to other religious groups that were different then your own without you to help them understand what they are reading? I dont, and an 18+ section would be helpful to you/ why are the groups allowed if they are discouraged? I am personally bothered by there presence only because moderation isnt equal, they get special treatment. I have flagged them as have others so i dont understand why they are still there.. its obviously an issue, many people have chimed in and expressed support.

I have been written up asked to change my profile and banned for having christian doctrine in my signature.. why can they be openly christian but not me?

Kids can make their own decisions, and their parents can keep them off here if they want.

How is it not a better solution to just keep those threads separate? you think its better to just have kids kept off of byc then to move a couple threads to a place where they wouldnt be seen by kids?

It is nice that you are attempting to take a stand for what you think is right, but sometimes it is best to just zip our lips and sit back. I mean, this isn’t a life or death issue. This isn’t significant enough to get all bent out of shape for. People aren't dying, for goodness sake! At least use wisdom with what you say. Have a blessed yal!

No. Children need CONSTANT supervision while using the web, so parents should be watching them even on BYC.

Just a thought. other forums have a section for adults that isnt moderated as heavily, usually its in the off topic section. I believe that having a place to express ourselves and have regular old conversation would be very beneficial. Not only would it help keep some of the banter out of various threads it would give those 18+ a place to be that was theres and we could debate real issues without fear of it getting out of hand and offending certain peoples sensibilities . For example religious talk is not supposed to be allowed according to the byc forum rules but you have many religious threads, they would all be at home in the less moderated section.. just a thought
