I was on a forum where they had an 'Off Topic' section, some of it was good, because people could ask about a car repair, what central heating boiler to get, and so on.
Also there was the political debates, some got very heated and fall outs would take place, the moderator/s had to lock some threads and on the rare occasion after numerous warnings one or two got banned.
But like already said, if you saw a topic that you were not interested in in don't go there, I saw many topics and saw the title and just ignored them, no point in reading stuff that bored me to death.
As for an adult section this is a family site and a young child could easily go looking there, it would be hard to police. I nearly wrote something a bit too rude on one thread as a joke but thought better of it, for the sake of cracking a joke and being warned and show myself up I refrained.
Also religion is as bad as politics that too can cause fall outs and warnings as debates get heated, in my mind there are good and bad in all races and creeds
