An ugly Motley Crew - but what are they? 15 pounders!!!

In order to weigh these guys I had to take my scales out to coop and pick them up from the roost, and they always roost near or on the ground. So I figured pretty easy - I would weigh myself and then pick up a roo and weigh again. The first one I picked up wasn't too bad - he didn't like it but didn't put up much of a struggle. But then I picked up the black one and OMG I didn't know whether I should drop it or hold on tighter. I'm standing on the scales, trying to hold the big guy with one hand while shining a flashlight at scales with the other and that big huge thing acted like it was going to rip me to shreds - actually by the sounds it was making you'd have thought I was ripping it to shreds, alive. All I could think was "Please don't kill me Mr. Turkey." He was probably thinking the same thing.

I had a rooster just like that with the green tail feathers and all , he was part RIR and part NH and part something else but yours is just as beautiful as mine was.

Well, you sure did get a fantastic payoff for doing a good thing!
