Ancona Chicken Thread

Pics
Hello everybody. I have been reading your thread and enjoying it much. These Anconas have really caught my eye. I do believe I am going to have to have a flock of them.

I hope you are all having a nice Memorial Day. A sincere THANK YOU to all who are serving and have served and especially to those who have died so that we can have our freedom. God bless the military families too!

My Ancona is 7weeks and is a great addition to our flock so far we make sure she is super use to us and all the noises in the yard. She is still in the brooder at night because we got worried we had a sick chicken that we immediately quarantined which turned out to be that she got beat up a bit so we had build a special coop so she and a mate are there. I'm putting my Ancona her name is Friday out tomorrow with our barred rock and other babies.

I placed an order with Meyer which should arrive in a couple weeks. I REALLY wanted to order some Ancona females but they were out of them. I did order a couple Ancona males. I figured until I get the females I can play around with some Leghorn/Ancona crosses. I'm looking forward to their arrival but dang I wish they had some girls coming with them! Good luck with your little Ancona girl. :)

Triple, if you really want to breed Anconas we should have some available in a couple of weeks.

There you go I believe Anconas are worth the wait!!!!!!!!!!!!! I decided to build my flock with my layer breeds first and then I slowly added all the others that I wanted as they became available.

Like the rosecomb Ancona´s.

I started breeding Ancona bantams this year. I have 1 rooster and 1 hen bantam and 1 standard hen. All single combed black motled.

A hen, cross between bantam and standard. 5 weeks old.

Hi Yellow House. Well I'm not so sure I can afford breeder quality birds but it sounds great. Tell me more.

You can check out our website. It does it explains all of those details.

We have rose combed birds. They're tough as nails, nice producers, they have strong mottling and good type. They're still a work in progress, as one would expect considering their rarity. If you want a start in Anconas, they're probably among your safest bets.

Keep posting images. It will be neat to see these develop. Anconas bantams are exceedingly rare over here.

Yeah here too, only 3 people have them in Belgium.

I have 13 chicks I think. Maybe I will take some new pictures friday.

Chicks

Bantam x Standard

Bantams

My trio, bantam couple and big hen (she has white legs and lays an egg every day, this way almost all the chicks I have are hers). The bantam hen is broody, she has 5 eggs she broods on? Do I say it right?
