Wow what a difference!

Is it ok that Dottie is so white, or is that because she is mottled? I just noticed yours are much blacker

yours is a little too white might be mixed with something if you look at post #25 you would see a good example of a nice pullet she was 11 weeks old there.
here's another pic of a pullet that was too white had to let her go.

We need help with Ancona photos!! There have been some great photos posted in this thread already. You've probably seen where we've asked before, but the idea is to have progressive photos from hatch to maturity of as many breeds possible. Ideally we would follow the same chick to maturity, but that is not going to always be feasible.

If you have photos, you may either send them to me or upload them here https://www.backyardchickens.com/breeds/submit2.php

Please
make sure to denote male/female and age

Thanks,

Nava,

Thanks. Yes we need turkin pics as well. We are actually trying for every breed on the BYC Breed Index - I know, lofty goals...

It came from a hatchery so maybe it is not an Ancona, that is what everyone said she was

Thanks to everyone for this thread. I found this website looking up the two new breeds I got this year. Ancona was one of those breeds. So far I love them. They are about three weeks. Thanks for the info on them. Cant wait to see more.

Um, Nava? They're very nice, healthy looking birds, but I don't think any of them are Anconas; their legs are black/blue, not yellow. Same with the beaks, (black instead of yellow) and really, there should be some mottling showing up by that age.

So then is my Dottie an Ancona? Or is she too white? She came from Ideal, from the assorted pullets bin so she is not a cross, but she may be another breed.

I am so confused lol.

ETA, We are not breeding or showing, so it doesnt matter is she is not perfect, I just dont want to go around saying I have an Ancona, if she is something else.

I ordered 10 assorted white egg pullets from Welp Hatchery, and they sent ALL anconas,

I was hoping for a varity. (you have to order a 5 per breed min.)
They were hatched 3/16, they are now 2 weeks old. i have 9 now, 1 died the day after I got, it had a large scab on it's stomach, sent an email to the hatchery, never got back with me, of course. I think I already have a least 1 roo, one attacks my hand whenever I reach in the brooder.

Pic when they were 1.5 weeks old
